1944 - today
Founded in November 1944, Bajaj Auto is a brand of the Indian Bajaj industrial group. Despite its name, Bajaj Auto is a manufacturer of low- and medium-displacement two-wheelers and scooters, light and inexpensive vehicles widely used in Asia.
In 2017, it was the second largest producer of two-wheelers in India after Hero Honda, a joint venture between Hero Group and Honda.
With over thirty models to its credit, Bajaj has a strong presence in Asia. That's why it was able to conclude several partnerships with better-known manufacturers, starting with Kawasaki, which had entrusted Bajaj with the distribution and after-sales service of its models since 2009. This alliance finally came to an end in April 2017, with Bajaj focusing on another partnership with KTM. In exchange for passing on its know-how for the development of 125 and 250 cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engines, KTM will use the Bajaj network to sell its products in India and Southeast Asia.
