alcyon was a French company that produced motorcycles between 1903 and 1954. Founded in Neuilly-sur-Seine, near Paris, by Edmond Gentil, the company specialized in the production of motorized bicycles.
alcyon's first motorcycles were powered by 211cc single-cylinder engines, and the company soon expanded its product range to include bikes of various sizes and power ratings. In 1912, Alcyon won the French Motorcycle Grand Prix, a victory that helped make the brand known worldwide.
during the First World War, Alcyon produced motorcycles for the French army, but also continued to produce civilian models. In the 1920s and 1930s, the company continued to expand with motorcycle models ranging from 98cc to 498cc, including racing bikes.
alcyon was also one of the first motorcycle manufacturers to produce models with rear suspension. In 1939, the company launched the 350cc Alcyon Touriste, a popular touring motorcycle in France.
unfortunately, World War II had a major impact on Alcyon's motorcycle production, and after the war, international competition became increasingly fierce. In 1954, the company finally closed its doors. However, the Alcyon brand continues to attract the interest of vintage motorcycle collectors for its innovative and elegant models.
