Mugen is not strictly speaking a two-wheeler manufacturer. The company specializes in car preparation. Historically associated with Honda, it is not a subsidiary or the sports department of the Japanese giant, but an independent company. The family link is strong, however, as Mugen was founded by Hirotoshi Honda, Soichiro Honda's son.
Mugen Motorsport made its appearance in the motorcycle world in 2012, with the Shinden project. This is an electric racing motorcycle, designed for the Tourist Trophy. The first version developed 122 hp for a weight of 260 kilos. 5 years later, progress has made it possible to lighten the machine a little, to 248 kilos, and to significantly increase engine power. The Shinden produced 163 hp and 21.4 mkg of torque in 2017.
