presentation of the 11 1-2 2014
to discover Moto-Morini is to enter a world of its own, with artisanal flavor and a dry Italian taste as strong in the mouth as it is in the mouth. The entry-level model is now called the 11 1/2. A generous-displacement roadster, less violent than the Corsaro Veloce and a direct descendant of the 9 1/2.
while the old 9 1/2, with its 1187 cm3 twin, forbade numerical logic, its descendant, with the same engine, has a more coherent first name. The styling is sober, far from the extravagance of streetfighters of all stripes. It's a no-frills roadster, where form needs no more. It's a shame the 11 1/2 didn't adopt the 9 1/2's spoked rims. On the other hand, we appreciate the "Arabic Sand" saddle, in stark contrast to the "Matt Black" saddle contrasting with the ubiquitous "Matt Black".
The mechanics are not in the same league as the Corsaro. Here, the twin-cylinder engine produces 117 horsepower. A conscious choice to offer greater availability at mid-range revs. And above all, to avoid overshadowing a much more expensive big brother. But the 11 1/2 is no low-cost bike. The choice of equipment sets the tone: 320 mm Brembo brakes and rims, Verlicchi tubular steel frame, 50 mm Marzocchi upside-down forks, Paioli offset shock absorber, carbon chain guard and mudguards. An anti-dribble clutch prevents the rear wheel from locking up under heavy deceleration. To be convincing, the 11? will first have to bear comparison with its legendary Bologna neighbor.
