presentation of the 1200 SCRAMBLER 2017
remaining in Euro3, Morini's Scrambler doesn't look very convincing for the immediate future. Legislation does, however, allow it to be released in limited numbers. Those who are convinced will be able to discover a machine with a strong mouth for its class.
Doomed to decline by the emergence of trail bikes, the Scrambler style of the 60s and 70s was, until recently, no more than a faint memory. Fortunately, all things are eternal. Skirts are back in fashion, musical styles are remixing the glories of the last 3 decades, and the "revival" is gradually gaining ground among manufacturers. Voxan long ago launched a scrambler first, then Triumph revived the spirit of the TR6 with its 900 scrambler - now it's Morini's turn to bring out the studded tires again with its 1200 Scrambler. Since 2013, a number of improvements have made it more enjoyable: a more comfortable seat, an anti-dribble clutch that requires half the grip, improved paint quality and anodized aluminum handlebars. 2014 sees the Morini dressed in carbon, and the Vintage Accessory Kit comes as standard. It consists of leather side bags, a headlight protection grille, chrome parts on the engine and a protection shoe.
based on the old 9 1/2, this Italian machine retains the canons of the genre, with its spoked wheels, off-road tires and double exhaust system with side-mounted pipes. The 19" front wheel smacks of the desire to roam the plains.
On the technical side, we're a long, long way from the mechanics of the last century. Beneath its rustic exterior, the Morini is home to a host of beautiful people. 50 mm marzocchi inverted forks, 298 mm brake discs, Brembo 2-piston calipers, Excel spoke wheels, and a big 1187 cm3 distiller with 117 drums. The steel trellis frame differs from the 9 1/2 only in color. The hydroformed aluminum swingarm has a special design. Overshadowed for a time by Morini's setbacks, the Scrambler returned with subtle technical modifications: a shorter wheelbase, reduced rear suspension travel, a 10 mm lower seat, and an invoice that capped at under 11,000 euros. 2014 brought inflation, with 2,000 euros taken from the hips. And another 2,000 more in 2016. It's starting to hit.
a little wind-jumper, vintage leather saddlebags, headlamp protection grille, a front mudguard supported by metal hoops; these little effects finish sprinkling the ex 9 1/2's plains cousin with charm. But will it be enough to restore the thirst for freedom and independence that gave birth to scramblers in the past? The trend is in its favor; the toxic price tag is less convincing.
