presentation of the 850 V7 Stone 75° Oro Olimpico 2023
The V7 has been omnipresent at Guzzi, in every sense of the word, for over 15 years. Some 25 versions and special editions have been added to the catalog. But there's one that only one enthusiast has been able to acquire. A unique V7 Stone, created for a special celebration and for the benefit of a sporting ideal. It's the 75° Oro Olimpico.
It's impossible not to fall under the spell of its shimmering color. The twin's cylinder heads are finished in gold, as are the rims. Edging in the same tone runs along the tank and side panels, while stitching extends the thread on the saddle.
While Guzzi red takes over the tank, it takes care to give pride of place to a sticker representing a gold medal. Because, as you may have guessed, this V7 is a nod to a moment in the Olympic Games.
Did the Italian company take part in the Olympics? No, not the brand. But some of its workers. Surprising as it may seem, Moto-Guzzi set up a rowing club a long time ago. TheA.S.D. Canottieri Moto Guzzi was founded in 1929 by Carlo Guzzi, Giorgio Parodi and Giovanni Ravelli. As Lake Como was very close to the company's premises, employees were encouraged to take part in sports, and did very well in this nautical exercise. So much so, in fact, that a team from the factory went on to win the gold medal in the sport at the 1948 London Olympics. In addition to this extraordinary reward, the boss offered each of the helmsmen (Giuseppe Moioli - Francesco Faggi - Elio Morille - Giovanni Invernizzi) a 175 cm3 motorcycle and 8 days' paid vacation.
This V7 75° Oro Olimpico honors the 75th anniversary of this exceptional adventure. In addition to its blood-and-gold finery, the bike gets a pair of Arrow exhausts. The look gains in sportiness, and a little in performance. After installation and a small ECU update, the mufflers deliver a 1.5hp gain, accompanied by an additional 2Nm. The 853 cm3 twin will appreciate this little bonus to add to its 65 hp, which will be channelled through a traction control system and then into the cardan shaft transmission.
The bike never made it to the Moto-Guzzi catalog, but was auctioned on the CharityStars platform. It sold for 16,200 euros, almost double the price of an 850 V7 Stone. This sum was then donated to the rowing club, to finance its activities and humanity. Indeed, the Canottieri has gone beyond the recreational and sports club stage to also help young people and people with disabilities.
