presentation of the 850 V7 Sport 2025

Oh oh... the V7 is getting angry! It's not the kind of roadster that smells of gunpowder, but in this Sport version, you can tell it's taken the bit between its teeth. Or rather, that it's getting to grips with its front end. Alongside the (slightly) reworked V7 Stone and Special, here's a brand-new, no-holds-barred version.

There have been some 25 versions of the V7, with different themes. The Sport sets itself apart with a bow that's far more muscular than anything we've seen in this model's long lineage. The Italian gets a 41 mm inverted fork with adjustable preload and doubles its braking system, with two 320 mm discs and Brembo 4-piston radial calipers.

This is serious stuff, perhaps even too serious for a bike with a flowing temperament and a nostalgic profile. It doesn't see it the same way, pushing its will with a better master cylinder and lighter rims. A gain of 1.8 kg over the V7 Stone. More dynamism is added to this Guzzi's CV, to a level we've never seen before. Even the V7 Racer didn't have this kind of equipment.

Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Sport 2025 - 1Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Sport 2025 - 1

All V7s are equipped with "Strada" and "Pioggia" riding modes. Only the latter features a 3rd mode entitled Sport, reducing traction control intervention to a minimum and adopting a livelier engine mapping.
On top of this, Guzzi installs a 6-axis inertial unit to further fine-tune Traction Control reactions and optimize ABS cornering. This time, the V7 Sport goes over the top. It has neither the engine nor the temperament to exploit this kind of electronic assistance. If it's too eager to follow fashion, it's equipped with futility. Not to mention an unnecessarily inflated price tag.

Mandello's twin is not looking for racing or adrenalin, but for the charm of emotion-filled rides. Proud of it, Guzzi regularly improves it. It passes the Euro5+ barrier with ease, and even with flying colors. Ride-by-wire control, a larger airbox, a 3rd lambda sensor, optimized cooling and exhaust, and a larger throttle body give the engine 4% more power. By the time you get it up to 6,900 rpm, it will have 67.3 horsepower. Torque now exceeds 8 mkg on a V7; for all models in the family.

Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Sport 2025

The V7 Sport has not said its last word. Its technical bulimia is accompanied by a certain coquetry, as evidenced by the red-stitched seat, aluminum headlight mounts, café-racer-style handlebar-tip mirrors, aluminum inserts on the side panels and stylized trigger plate.

We can't blame this V7 Sport for seeking more dynamism and a different level of feel from that of the V7's destiny. And yet, by repeating that it is descended from one of the brand's most famous sports cars, the 1972 V7 Sport, it has come to believe it. Even its 'Verde Legnano' color is that of the era.

French Model 2025
Superb bike but 11000€ it hurt a little .... too bad because it would be in my garage no wonder the dealerships are full, even the seller admitted to me that was 2500€ too expensive Piaggio make an effort on your prices....the Chinese arrive Rating : 4/5
Because it's worth it
French Model 2025
For 500 francs more than the Speciale (which has lost some of its lustre by abandoning its traditional dashboard and chrome rims), the Sport offers a lot: double Brembo discs with radial clamps, adjustable radial master cylinder, Sport mode and inertial unit controlling traction control AND ABS, handlebar-mounted mirrors, superb finish... In short, I wanted the Speciale and I ended up with the Sport, and I regret nothing Rating : 5/5
Slow sport
French Model 2025
When I was a kid, I dreamed of the V7 sport... now I'm old and still dreaming of it... a timeless line, then! It's a pity that the matte black color isn't also intended for the sport, but the gray one catches my eye... a good fork, good braking, an engine that's still not very powerful but with character, now with a little more torque at lower revs, a low seat height and decent comfort for decent range, and a cardan shaft... Add the racer's fork head, repainted in the machine's color (yes, it's possible, available from Guzzi parts, just ask and expect to pay around 1,000 euros...), and you've got a bike that's just about ideal for pleasure riding, without spending a fortune. A dream come true... All that's left is to try it out for real! Rating : 4/5

If the Corsa's fork is attached to the Foué che like the v7 sport's, isn't there a risk that it won't fit? Rating : 4/5
French
good question Mr Brati, because I confess I don't know: I'd asked if it was feasible for the V7 stone... so I'll have to ask the question again for the sport. I'll also be waiting for them to offer it in nicer colors, like the old metallic gray for example .. of the stone: because the mouse grey offered for the sport is really not very good, in my opinion: and I don't understand this regression in the choice of colors for these bikes: having said that, at these prices you can still have them repainted... Rating : 4/5

Good comments from Brati and velocargo. At the 1500 km mark (very soon), I'm going to ask about the fork head... Concerning the color, I took the Grigio Lario because the Verde Legnano was momentarily unavailable. In real life, it's a pearly grey, much better than on the photos. Rating : 5/5
