presentation of the 940 BELLAGIO 2012

the Bellagio inaugurated a new custom style for the Italian manufacturer, less California (in vogue for over... 30 years), less touring, more bad boy, a bit like Harley's Sportster line. The 35th anniversary edition of the Calif seemed to be a tribute tinged with a 'goodbye'. Will this 940 carry the torch for a new Guzzi generation?

Moto-Guzzi 940 BELLAGIO 2012 - 1Moto-Guzzi 940 BELLAGIO 2012 - 1

its name sings like the famous Las Vegas hotel. Yet its origins lie in the Italian Alps: it's the name of a small town on the shores of Lake Como. In the past, the Lombardy bourgeoisie gathered here; today, this name is borne by this 940 custom. A beautiful machine, with an overflowing twin and a presence that's both discreet and present. The Bellagio looks good, is a little provocative, and accentuates its aggressiveness with twin exhausts terminating in multi-drilled tips. Equipment-wise, it's a far cry from the days of the California: big forks, electronic dashboard with digital window, Brembo brakes and single-arm with cardan shaft. Designed for maximum availability from low revs, the new twin retains all the Guzzi philosophy. In our world of 16-valve engines and ever-larger radiators, the 940 evolves in la dolce vita. What a pleasure it is to savor an engine rooted in authenticity, with 2 valves per cylinder, air cooling, and a character like you'll find less and less. Not exactly supple, but strong at mid-stroke, the engine has an unmistakably spicy taste - a far cry from the blandness of certain Japanese productions. Bellagio is buffalo steak with a real Roquefort sauce; a meat that can be cut with a big knife, that doesn't need to spill over the plate, and that leaves a strong taste in your mouth once you've chewed it. Featuring a new frame and a more compact size than Mandello's previous custom bikes, the 940 Bellagio also gets the latest-generation C.A.RC gimbal swingarm and digital display found on the latest Guzzi models. On the 940, it's mated to a simplified instrument cluster featuring a subtly retro speedometer. Since 2012, the Bellagio has lost 50 mm in seat height.

What a pleasure, after having experienced the no less attractive (for other reasons) Hornet 600 and Triump Trophy 900. Italian charm, vibrations, etc... Nothing to reproach the engine, handling or braking. A small downside: the left boot sole takes its toll on the front and rear pots... Reasonable fuel consumption. It's not a sports bike, but it packs enough punch for a nervous but not unconscious retiree ;-). Rating : 4/5

Hello I have a Bellagio of 2012 a buddy one of 2014 none of 2 is in critair 2 but rather in critair 3 because engine with the standard euro 2 Do not trust the year because the model although appeared in 2007 was not in euro 3 alas.
Too bad for the ZFE in 2025!!.. Fabulous engine! According to the mechanics we met at the Mandello del Lario factory, it's the best GUZZI made since the V7 sport 750 of the 70s!
And I'm not the one who said it!
With a schock factory, the seat is raised by 2/3 cm, and I know that with my small frame, my feet don't lie flat as much. The bike leans more on its side stand, but comfort and roadholding are better. The turning radius is a bit truckish for 1/2 turns. And the digital temperature display (among other things) is a little temperamental.
Quite a machine, with quite a temperament and a very special lock between a Calif and a Harley, half roadster, half custom and 100% low boy..

Owner of a ktm 1190 with all the electronics on board I parted with it because too brutal and too high perched while waiting to be able to buy me a bm I fall by chance on a bellagio which I did not even try because anyway I did not want to keep it and well to the surprise what motor bike endearing stuffed with character getting a pleasure inimitable to the old one it is decided I keep it moreover Madam is happy! I have 2 Virago 1100 including a Bobber, both 28 years old.
Like CAPTEUR5, I bought this Bellagio without trying it out (in 2014) mainly for its devastating looks...and also the seller's information (Victory and Indian dealer)
Not disappointed, even if the handling requires a good learning curve, especially for a 2-up.
It rides like a rail and pushes hard enough to be fun. Tomorrow, I'm off to the Retord plateau with my mates.
Headlights on.

I bought this Bellagio second-hand on Saturday, of course, and what a pleasure it is to ride this terrible machine.
I used to ride a Yamaha 950 Bolt, nothing like it.
This Guzzi gives incredible sensations, the machine lives and breathes, what happiness.

I recommend at least one test ride before saying no.

Best regards

rien qu'du plaisir
French Model 2012
I tried it out in 2007 when it first came out (I say "it" because: 1 it's the name of 1 village, 2 because this machine is rather masculine in its genes)
i was immediately attracted by the rather hairy character of the machine, the absolute opposite of a Harley, which offers nothing but noise and stiffness, without any velocity unless you have a host of overpriced transformers. Here, the WAATS stretch out their arms with their arses firmly planted on a VERY comfortable saddle and a perfect riding position, and there's plenty of waat to go around! AH the sound of the magnificent exhausts: BBRRRRROOOOAAAARRR at every gear change, and throughout every acceleration: JOUISSIF!At the time, I was accompanied by a much more consensual and very recent BREVA 1100, with which I had a lot of fun; but in 2012, I fell for the BELLAGIO LUXURY. 5 years on, every time I turn on the ignition, I feel my mind opening up to an almost mystical sensation of freedom, and that's REALLY why we all ride motorcycles.

Breath, character, a legendary sound, happiness under the saddle when you turn the throttle and the engine's vibrations make you feel that the machine has a soul...
A beautiful motorcycle to tame without reservation...

I totally agree with you Guigui34! La V7 est sympa, mais manque tout de même un peu de pep\'s, avec ce moteur, ça serait top. Guzzi has just released a V9, but still with a lung!
I don't understand, we don't ask 150hp from this kind of machine, but there's a minimum all the same: 75hp and a torque of 8mkg at mid-range, alive as guzzi knows how to do, there I sign right away, but there, no, what a shame!

it's an excellent motorcycle that consumes an average of 5.5L/100kms. Its engine and noise are simply incredible, pure pleasure...

The original rear suspension is not top-notch...the road is a bit rough. This can be changed without too much trouble.

hello, I changed the original shock absorber for a Shok Factory, GENIAL, completely different behavior of the bike and much less shaken !!!!

I tried it out last weekend, and it's amazing. As soon as the engine turns over, I get the impression that it lives, vibrates, shakes, leans slightly to the left on acceleration. It feels great. The engine is torquey, but what's excellent is the thrust and the sound it makes as it climbs the towers. It's like Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde, it's transformed, it's no longer the same bike. As for handling, it's on a rail, to the detriment of manoeuvrability it's true, but with a bit of experience it's easy to get by. Braking is very good. just make sure you don't downshift 2 gears too quickly under braking, as the heavy engine braking makes the rear end slip. to sum up, this is a good bike for touring, with the possibility of getting around without any problems. as soon as I can, I'll buy it. this bike is a real eye-catcher...and a real ear-catcher!
what a melody those pots make!
pleasant comfort, especially with the comfort saddle, my other half loves it too, no handle for the passenger, whatever, its arms around my waist suit me as well as her perfectly
it's a far cry from Japanese production bikes
and the feeling of riding an exception in this manga landscape.

Since my last message, I've had grab handles fitted, as well as a pack carrier and a 42-liter top case, when I ride with "madame"... I've had the passenger seat padded, and now we can envisage short day rides. As the kilometers go by, the pots are loosening up a bit! What a delight to climb the revs, even with the original pots. Hi Steph, you say you've "had handles fitted, as well as a 42-liter package carrier and top case". Do you have the model and some photos?

What more can I say.....
Truly a motorcycle out of the ordinary!
You won't see many of these on the road, but what a look! (especially in luxury for me).
Comfort and flexibility, excellent engine, torquey, powerful at the top...what a sound!
I should point out that all this can be found once the running-in period is over. On a Guzzi more than on any other, running in the beast and the man is essential! By adjusting the suspension to your liking, you'll be riding a near-perfect machine!
The only downside and piece of advice: when you attack a corner, watch your footrests!
I agree with Steph (07/05/2012), about the lack of GUZZI options, but I managed to find two great websites....
www.laboutiqueitalienne.fr
I bought and installed a package holder (I would have preferred a sissy bar) and chrome cylinder protectors = class!
and www.stucchiluigi.it = accessory manufacturer based at the GUZZI factory! I bought a rear wheel washer = less spray in wet weather.
So much for my point of view...
For those who are undecided, there's no need to hesitate with an HD, here it's cheaper and the transverse motor with gimbal is exciting!

a small but important correction: the seat height has been increased to 730mm on 2012 models.
the two-seater saddles are common to the 2 luxury and aquila nera models;
finally, we'd like to see this bike tested, and we'd like to see some quality dealers not forced out of the network by piaggio's stupid sales policy

I'm very happy with it, it's a good bike, with a great look. What's more, the original pots give off a perfect sound, and revving up becomes a treat... The only problem with this bike is the lack (or absence) of passenger equipment. The only problem with this bike is the lack (or absence) of equipment for the passenger: moto Guzzi doesn't offer a sissy bar or handgrips for the passenger, for example, so in conclusion, it's a selfish bike, but you have to "take" pleasure where you find it (if anyone has any information on how to fit a sissy bar and/or package holder for this bike, I'd be happy to help) Rating : 4/5
