presentation of the 850 V9 Bobber Open House 2017
Is the V9 Bobber a Bad Boy? Yes, but not really. This machine isn't looking for violence in its pistons; its main claim to fame is that it's rougher, more authentic and harsher than its Roamer sibling. At a party, it's the black jacket, frowning and listening to the girlfriends. But that doesn't mean he's not invited to the party. Even better: he's the one wearing the Guzzi 50th anniversary badge.
Not the brand's - it's much older than that. No, the 50th anniversary of the V7. To celebrate this, the Mandello factory opened its doors at the beginning of September, with a host of tours and events, and is offering a special Open House Special Edition version of the V9 Bobber.
Cloaked in black, even more so than the standard Bobber, this machine is only available in "Total Black". Its commemorative authenticity is marked on the reverser with a logo specially created for the event. This edition's intrinsic panoply continues with a series of accessories such as Bar End handlebar-mounted mirrors, cut-to-size aluminum cylinder-head guards and a stylized windscreen.
This darkly charming panache comes into its own once the transverse twin is up and running. The V9 Bobber is not overly powerful, but it does have a certain amount of trunk space, and is driven by a mechanical system that's full of character. The exterior is retro, the underside neo. As a good member of the family, the V9 Bobber knows how to be technological, with 2-mode traction control, ABS, a USB socket, the optional MG-MP multimedia platform and handlebar-mounted dashboard controls.
