presentation of the 850 V7 Special 2021

Moto-Guzzi is almost a timeless manufacturer. Rightly or wrongly considered Europe's oldest motorcycle brand, it seems to glide through time. Its models exude a charming nostalgia, while concealing just the right amount of technology.

The V7 Special is an excellent example. We're already into the fourth generation of modern V7s, and the Special benefits from their improvements. 13 more horsepower and 1.3 mkg of torque. What they all have in common is a face from years gone by, as comfortable today as it was then.

Aboard her sibling Stone, everyday life smells of slippers, a backwards cap, a roaring fire and crackling pistons. A bit of grunt too, with the adoption of a bigger engine. It's a very close cousin of the V85 TT, but downsized in power. Still, 65 grunts are available.
In the presence of the Special, it's not the same atmosphere, although twin, chassis and technology are identical. You approach with shoes, hat and gloves, then introduce yourself.

Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Special 2021 - 1Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Special 2021 - 1

The V7 850 Special stands out from the crowd with its retro-spoke wheels and more polished paintwork. Chrome is much more prominent, chasing the black of the exhaust lines, rearview mirrors, rear amortos, headlamp surround and handlebars. The engine fins get a little milling to highlight the cylinder head. This vintage version loses the fork gaiters, gains a nicely-sized passenger handle and rejects the Stone's geek appeal. Its optics don't feature the eagle-shaped DRL signature or the all-digital liquid crystal display. Instead, it retains its dual-dial handset, with hands and a minimum of digital space.

Moto-Guzzi 850 V7 Special 2021 but classic doesn't mean outdated. The V7 Special can be downgraded to A2, features MGCT traction control (deactivatable), offers the MG-MP multimedia platform as an option, and is Euro5-compliant.

The new 850 cm3 V7s take mechanical pleasure to a new level, reminding Triumph that Italy also knows how to look to its past. The Stone can better tickle the Street Twin, while the Special wouldn't mind having a word with the 900 Bonneville.

M.B - Manufacturer's photos

* Moto-Guzzi was born in 1921 and still makes motorcycles today. It is therefore the oldest brand still in business; other manufacturers were born before it, but they have all disappeared. But what about Peugeot? The lion of Sochaux is much older than the eagle of Mandello, and its production of motorized two-wheelers also predates that of Guzzi. But Peugeot stopped making motorcycles a long time ago. Only scooters. So who's the oldest brand?

Bought in okaz with 1500km in 2022,being a nostalgic of old guzzi. At 62 years of age, I've improved the minor faults of my v7 850 2021 to ride it in a sportier way, especially the suspension fork and shocks. Now it sticks to the floor. Nothing but happiness. Rating : 4/5
French Ded31 Model 2023
Bought new in 2021, I'm completely happy with it, even though I'm 7..... brushes old. I find the brakes a little too tight, and a double disc would not only avoid torsional stress on the fork, but would also make it safer. I'm not a heavy rider any more, but I've done about 25,000 km with it, so it'll continue to ride with me for a few more years (before it doesn't pass the MOT). Rating : 4/5
French founzi Model 2023
it's an endearing, very accessible motorcycle designed to enjoy the countryside, because it doesn't encourage you to go very fast, thanks to its pleasant engine, which pushes from 2,800 rpm and is pleasant up to 5,000 rpm for the torque, but pushes to the limit of the red zone at 6,500 rpm. And goes beyond that, but I don't like to rush a machine. There's no disturbing vibration, and even if the braking isn't up to scratch, it's good enough for both solo and duo driving. Fuel consumption hovers around 4.4 l/100 km, including a few peaks, so it's respectable, and the engine isn't yet unbridled at 2000 kms.The suspension is decent for everyday use, and you shouldn't hesitate to change the preload depending on the load at the rear - it takes 3 minutes with the wrench supplied. in short, if I had to, I'd buy the same car again, the only regret being that if it had 80 hp like the v85, then it would be perfect Rating : 4/5

bought new in february,i live in ardèche, and this bike is really cool on the small roads.you take your time, the pleasure of discovering the landscapes.it doesn't prevent you from traveling, because it's comfortable and a bird's appetite at legal speed.that's my opinion.otherwise i'm looking for nice bikers to ride.i live around lamastre in ardèche.i'm an oldtimer,67 years old but not yet a has-been.contact me.thank you Rating : 4/5

Hello, is it possible to get some feedback after about 3 years of use? I tried the new V7 sport the day before yesterday, but I prefer the look of this one. I've got my eye on a 2024 model, but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try it out. Before I make up my mind, I'd like to know what you think: reliability, braking, damping (the rear seems to be pretty bad), duo... etc. There's a lot less electronics than on the new ones, which isn't to my displeasure, but apparently less torque.
Thanks for the reply, via the e-mail given above.

Bjrs I have just taken the model expo brider in A2 the speeds are sensitive the neutral is difficult to find fortunately there is the indicator otherwise at the end of 300 km in the weekend I understand better the motor bike coupleurs I tried the roundabout in 3 ème after on the national it is complicated to hold straight without bubble from 110 but it is not made for that the turns on the secondary roads follow with ease that happiness Rating : 4/5

What's the point of having a second disc with only 65 HP to stop?
We're adding unnecessary weight!
the real question: what's the diameter of the fork?
if there's a serious caliper between the 2 forks, the interest in a second disc totally disappears
What would be worrying would be if they went back to the drum at the rear!

Tried briefly for 1/4 h at Mandello in September, then for a good 2 hours _ in the wild from Automoto in Pontivy (56 )*****. Seriously, the engine is great fun, the handling is sound, the braking impec, the comfort correct, the appetite like a bird*, so it's more than enough for me as a motorcycle now: repression, and the price of kerosene back up to 2 € and more.
It's a little more expensive than others (although**...) but there's that shaft drive you can't live without once you've had a taste of it. And what a charm in the Special version!

* a bird eats on average 1 1/2 times its weight per day!!! ;o)
** Triumph's classic range is sold at the same price as Guzzi's, has no "cardan shaft" and is 100% produced in Thailand, where workers are paid a pittance. Logically, it should be about the same price as Royal-Enfields, which are produced in India... ...pigeons, pigeons !!!
I LOVED my buddy Bruno's RE650 Interceptor test ride, except that it shook you up like a plum tree! :o((

I tried a v7 stone 2021 yesterday (the special not available but it's the same mill now on the v7 2021)...and it's not bad at all! It reminded me of the characterful bikes I've had in the past...bravo for offering this kind of bike again

Even back then, japs were more insipid, which is nothing new

So I found my nc750x 2020 dct then which is not bad if not excellent ...and looks a bit but but ....la passion returns with this v850 special and I'll try to sell my Honda ..too bad!

Hey Boppy!
Why make a second record first?
This bike brakes, and pretty hard too! The 40mm fork doesn't twist, so what?
198 kg dry weight, isn't that enough? You need something heavy? Jicé@ui pige, point....

I was able to see her in real life at the Toulon dealership; she is maaagnniffiqquuuee
she's as beautiful in person as she is in photos! I was able to sit on it and with my 1.70m my two feet finally touch the ground together. For me, the only negative point is the absence of the center stand, which will be in the catalog of prohibitively expensive options!
i can't wait for them to put a model on trial so I can try it out and maybe make a purchase... Lafouine

Well, I've been waiting so long for this new version...having already had a v11 and 2 v7s (2and3), I think that this time our friends from Italy have lived up to our expectations. The v7 3 rough I've been riding for 2 years was already an engaging bike, but now it's going to shake things up a bit more...65 hp and over 70 newton/m of torque is really nice..
