Moto-Guzzi celebrated its centenary in 2021. The V7 was the first model to receive a gift. And a fine one it was: a bigger engine, more watts and an extra dose of high-tech.
Incidentally , this bike is now in its 4th generation since its rebirth in 2007. We've come a long way since 1966 and the very first V7, which at the time produced around forty horsepower. Half a century has flown by, with the passion of time as referee, up to version III of the little Guzzi. Until yesterday, this version offered 52 horsepower. Now, the teenager is having a crisis, and it's going to show.
The pace heats up with a twin derived from that of the V 85 TT. The cylinder heads are almost 100 cm3 larger, with spectacular results. 25% more power! This retro roadster now develops 65 bhp at 6,800 rpm, i.e. 13 bhp more; to be fetched just 600 revolutions later. It's even more torquey. From 60 Nm, the maximum is 73 Nm. This corresponds to 7.5 mkg, obtained at 5,000 rpm - again, just a little higher than on theex 750.
From 3,000 rpm, 80% of the torque is available.
A considerable advance for the V7, even if in absolute terms the values remain on a different scale from those of more powerful engines. 76 hp/liter and less than 9 Nm per 100 cm3 are Harley outputs. But that's not the point: with the Guzzi, the important thing is not the performance ratio, but how the power is distributed. With the character of its cylinder heads at the kneecaps, by its ventricles in love with air and fuel, when the crankshaft accompanies the connecting rods instead of yelling at them.

Young license holders will be pleased: this mill is also available in A2.
Based on engine appearance alone, it's hard to tell a V7 850 from a 750. The line, the patina, the bottle still smell as much of the Italian countryside and its aromatic herbs. Yet the details are all there: new rims, a wider rear tire (150 mm), a shorter rear mudguard adorned with a redesigned headlight, tapered turn signals, a new two-tier seat, revised airbox covers, a revised exhaust system, new footpegs and a thoroughly modern face.
The round headlamp has retained its right to remain, except for an exuberant DRL light signature. The eagle, the firm's emblem, generously takes over the headlamp, extending its wings beyond the circumference. The V7 is proud and assertive, and claims its Stone version as the most high-tech. The Special gets a more classic-looking headlamp, but both are illuminated by LEDs.
The same applies to the dashboard. Here, it's a full digital instrument panel right under the rider's nose. Liquid crystals have conquered the field, with the mission of displaying the essentials and a hair's breadth of superfluous information. RPM, speed, gear engaged, odometer trips, outside temperature, and a small icon for traction control. The V7 III already had it; it continues its career with a few more nags to manage. Still, not enough to overwhelm it..

riding a Guzzi V7 is the opposite of riding an excited roadster. It's all about the pleasure of riding. With a little more breath and heart once you're behind the handlebars of Episode IV.
Yes, it's more expensive and less powerful than an MT-07. Yes, it's far from ideal for stunt riding. Yes, it smells of the past right down to the rocker arms. No, it doesn't sell dreams; it's just charming.

It's good in town, on the road, and also on long journeys (avoiding the motorway/wind protection). The engine retains a good character and very decent current performance, engine, brakes, shock absorbers, comfort, agility everything is homogeneous. I'm delighted with it and I'd certainly buy the same one or its replacement. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Chrisfer
The only criticism is that a 2nd disc would be nice, and that the exhaust system should be a 2-in-1 that doesn't rise too high, to make it easier to fit luggage, and perhaps the warning system, which seems to have been forgotten. My beginnings with my English period (7 bikes) are based on the fact that mechanical design interests me, so I'm surprised at how little oil (2L) is needed for this engine to work properly. I've seen an 85tt with an oil cooler, which is certainly a good choice

I use it every day. Economical, less than 4l per 100, quiet, reliable (it's my 3rd Guzzi)

It's so easy to drive! It angles itself, it responds and it obeys my every command. It's light, maneuverable and works really well as a duo. What's more, it's very affordable
