presentation of the RRX 2025
In recent years, the many and varied electric roadster projects have come mainly from China and India. These huge markets are as much breeding grounds for mobility solutions as for pragmatic uses. Back home, the situation is more limited, with a few flashes of brilliance but few motorcycles for the average user.
Murtas sees things differently with its RRX. An urban streetfighter with a spirit of discovery. With its aggressive design, Japanese-style taut effects and KTM-style face, the machine could pass for a thermal motorcycle if it weren't for its square belly.
The first of its qualities is its choice of power. With a rated power of 11 kW, it can be ridden with an A1 (125) license or higher. These 15 hp can be increased to 20 kW at maximum power, i.e. 27 hp. But if the horsepower is on the level of a small-displacement motorcycle, the torque is on a completely different scale. 118 Nm come out of the engine, as much as an Indian 1200 FTR. It's going to pull on your arms.
Numbers in the city and beyond...
A little heavy for the 125 class, the RRX weighs in at 169 kg, the same as a current 500. While we're on the subject of figures, Murtas claims a 0-50 kph time of 2.4 seconds, a top speed of 135 kph (up to 155 kph when unbridled, off-road), and a range of up to 190 km. Normal use should reduce this to 120 or 130 km.
The RRX features a tubular steel trellis frame and swingarm, 38 mm inverted forks, chain drive and one brake disc per wheel. Beneath the false tank, the battery comes from Ganfeng, a major Chinese group and one of the world's largest lithium processors. This 73 V, 120 A semi-solid battery has a capacity of 88.76 kWh. With its on-board charger, it takes 4 hours 55 minutes to fill with electrons and go from 0 to 100% on a household socket - 2 hours 37 minutes on a Type 2 socket. This may seem a long time compared with the half-hour or 3/4-hour claimed by some brands, when they advertise a charge from 20% to 80%. Murtas prefers to display only full charge, which is far more time-consuming.

The RRX adds a number of assistances to make daily life easier. The rider will find on-board cruise control, three driving modes (Eco: 70 km/h - Normal: 95 km/h - Sport: 135 km/h), reverse gear up to 5 km/h; and a few goodies such as a color screen, Bluetooth, and an electronic anti-theft device.
It's hard to judge the quality of the peripherals (suspension, brakes, electronics), as there's no information on their provenance. The choice of tires, meanwhile, reflects a sense of efficiency, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso.
The high price comes as no surprise. No one can bring it down to a thermal equivalent. The Murtas RRX comes in at just under 7,000 euros. A cut above the best 125s. But it's not the bamboozle you'd expect from an electric motorcycle.
