something has changed in terms of access to the Turismo Veloce family. The most affordable was called Rosso; now it's R. Not at all short for Racing. At MV, it's the RC or RR that smell of the track.

but whether Rosso or R, the idea is the same: to offer an MV-Agusta at a "reasonable" price. This year, the 800 TV gets a lowered seat, longer gear ratios, improved throttle feel, and slightly updated instrumentation.

previously, the Varese crossover had already thought about revamping its innards. In 2021, by which time the engine had complied with Euro5 standards, with the blessing of a few modifications. New moving parts, reduced friction, modified exhaust, more powerful injectors, modified gear ratios - the final figures specified that neither power nor torque were impacted. The manufacturer even reported a 12% increase in torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm.

the Turismo gained the most in terms of electronics. Thanks to the installation of an IMU, the Turismo gains an active ABS for cornering, from Continental. There's also cruise control, a version 3.0 shifter and a new, larger TFT screen (5.5") with revised graphics. These were introduced with the latest version of the Brutale 1000. It can be paired with a smartphone and interacted with via the MV Ride app.

a fine array of improvements, ideal for showing the public and the competition the verve of one of MV-Agusta's most surprising models. With the birth of the Turismo Veloce, the "Meccanica Verghera" took its turn in the 2-wheeled SUV. The TV 800 is a blend of a bit of trail, a lot of roadster and the brand's sporting temperament. It's also not exactly a cheap model. But by integrating it into the R range (formerly Rosso), the manufacturer has lowered its price. But at what price? (literally AND figuratively)

MV-Agusta 800 Turismo Veloce Rfirstly, by limiting the choice of colors: just one, but not at all ugly. A skirt of black that invades the lower body, from plastics to metallics, topped by a blood-red cape. Next, the manufacturing processes were reviewed.
Not quite enough to explain the 3,000-euro reduction in price since the previous version. The factory must have taken the opportunity to reposition the bike to compete with the 900 Tracer GT and F 900 XR.

Slender, taut curves, an eye for beauty, the effects of sportiness transpiring from the arteries, a contained size and palpable tension, the Turismo Veloce is indeed an MV. A racy, graceful blend that provokes curiosity after congratulations. An F3-inspired snout sets the first note of a score between sport and touring. Note the superb design of the rear, with a passenger seat that appears to be half-suspension. Fall in love with the sloping chevrons delineating the slender taillights. The Turismo Veloce may be a trail rider, but it's also the most desirable.

The exhaust pipes are modelled on those of the 3-cylinder F3 and Brutale. This is logical, since the machine is also powered by the Tre Pistoni. However, the final shape is squarer, as inspired by the old F4s. The attention to detail and the desire to offer an exceptional fragrance continue with discreet stitching on the seat, a single-arm, LED indicators inlaid in the hand guards, the finely illuminated polygon encircling the headlamp unit, moments of MV-Agusta engraving here and there... Temptation is everywhere.

The norm in the trail-GT segment is a big twin, preferably 1200 cc. Instead, MV has opted for a boiling-hot powertrain already baptized in its F3 sportsbike, and carried over to its Brutale and Dragster roadsters. Thus, the super-compact 3-cylinder engine is installed in the Turisme Veloce, in its 800 mm size. Fiery and furious, the 3-legged engine is calibrated to produce 110 hp max at 11,000 rpm. Torque is rated at 8.57 mkg perched at 8,500 rpm. It smells like a nervous trail, more tempted to excite your back than the purr of a GT.

MV-Agusta 800 Turismo Veloce Rfans of technology will appreciate its advanced electronics, as the 800 Turismo Veloce houses the MVICS 2.1 platform. Behind this code name lies a host of driving aids. Three driving modes (Touring, Sport, Rain) + a customizable one - the setting options are worthy of a Gran Turismo game. Throttle sensitivity, angle-sensitive traction control, torque curve, power, engine braking and mill liveliness can be set to a defined number of levels. The bike is also equipped with an anti-wheeling system, cruise control and the third-generation EAS shifter. This allows you to shift up and down without touching the clutch. Shall we conclude this silicon chapter with cornering ABS as standard and Bluetooth on board? Yes, unless you opt for the Lusso SCS version, with its semi-active suspension, semi-automatic clutch and GPS.

An MV frame bears a signature: two aluminum parts attached to a steel trellis frame. Very similar to that of the ex-Rivale, its structure is a little wider and the plates are modified to accommodate a center stand. With 160 mm and 165 mm of travel, the suspensions are supplied by Marzocchi for the 43 mm upside-down forks and Sachs for the shock absorber. Settings have been revised for 2021. Brembo takes care of braking, and it's serious without being hypersport. Radial mounting, 4 pistons per caliper and 320 mm discs at the front; 220 mm disc and double-piston caliper at the rear.
At 191 kilos, the Turismo Veloce's delicate size is also reflected in its weight. Its fuel tank, with a capacity of 21.5 liters, is designed to take you to the next level.

You'll find a different, more upscale taste in trail riding with this machine from Varese. The outfit is appealing, the body is sporty and the engine smells of gunpowder. Clearly inclined to cover winding roads with velocity, the machine expresses more its Italian ardor than its pretension to "country" between roads, paths and fir trees. This MV-Agusta seems to live up to its name.
