presentation of the BRUTALE 989 R 2008
replacing the 910 R, the Brutale 989 could almost be considered MV-Agusta's entry-level roadster. Priced at 3,000 euros less than its big brother the 1078, the 989 R is far from being a cheap roadster. Already, by taking up the torch from the 910, its stripes of nobility and brutality have already been earned. Then, at over 15,000 euros a piece, it's in the VIP category of streetfighters. Last but not least, the very distinctive character of the Italian mechanics means you'll get a kick out of it, with or without warning. Already no slouch when it comes to violence, the 910 R 's 4-cylinder engine has gained a few cm3 (3 mm more bore to announce 982.3 cm3, i.e. 83 more), half a dozen horsepower and a little torque. Plenty to have fun with, or even more, especially since the chassis is so responsive: very rigid tubular trellis frame, big 50 mm inverted fork, radial brake calipers, the superb and unmistakable F4 monobar, the bevelled double exhaust with its snarling, bewitching sound... What's left for the Brutale 1078 to make the difference and justify its elitist price tag? 13 more horses and more racing equipment: pull-out gearbox, monobloc brake calipers, suspension and clutch from theF4 312 RR 1078 hypersport.
