presentation of the Brutale 1078 RR 2008
the Brutale looks so mean you can hear it roar just by looking at it. So, to the delight of its future owners, Italian engineers have inflated its lungs to make it even more Brutal! 1078RR is the name they've given it, but it's also the displacement that gives this new Italian a boost. With a new engine and new components to optimize performance to the max, MV's top-of-the-range model leads the way in the Italian naked sports sector. An engine developed entirely in-house, a four-cylinder developing over 150hp, no less. The new Brutale's looks already set the tone before you even insert the key. You only have to look at them to dream of them day and night.
the 1078RR isn't just a motorcycle, it's pure inner aggression. But for that, you need to want it and have the temperament to ride it and tame its power. This exclusivity is far from banal, and will take you far into the deep end. There's nothing ordinary about this 1078RR: life is faster, more colorful, more alive. That's a Brutale! The new engine demands even more from the suspension and brakes to keep the bike balanced and give you that kick in the butt, all in the finesse and agility that characterizes MV-Agusta.
Design-wise:
1078R simply means the best; Brutal at its best. And that includes the looks. Apart from the new dashboard, the new color scheme expresses determination. Three new colors that will make this new bike the top model on the catwalk, with its pearl-white/black dress for chic evening wear. An all-black outfit for dark, voluptuous evenings, and finally a silver anthracite and red to recall the Italian side that characterizes it, and its traditional MV sportiness. The dress of the new 1078 allows us to see the modifications that have been made: new brakes, the components of the new fork, and above all the small details that help refine this work of art. That's what makes the difference not only for the owner, but also for those lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it. It's the same as contemplating a work of art in a museum - you come away overwhelmed.
Equipment:
the transition from the 910 to the 1078 offers an extra 10% of power, giving it 15hp and 2kg more torque. Here's a short list of the most noteworthy evolutions on this new Italian model:
- Colors and decals.
- Graphic dashboard.
- Suspension calibration.
- 1078cc engine.
- Anti-dribble clutch.
- Resized catalytic converters.
- Brembo monobloc brakes.
The main objective was to find the right balance between the new components.
the new Brutale has inherited MV's highest technology. With its new 1078 based on the F4 RR 312 racing engine, the new Brutale is a winner. The objective was not so much to achieve maximum performance as to tame four cylinders offering a perfectly balanced stroke. It's no easy feat when you're dealing with 154hp compressed to achieve a frame like that of the Brutale. Bore and valves have been increased to 79 and 55mm. The high compression ratio has been maintained despite the significant increase in capacity to 1078.37cc. Maximum power was increased by 15hp, setting a new record for a Naked, with 154hp at 10700rpm. Torque has also been improved, rising from 96Nm at 800rpm to 117Nm at 8100rpm. The removable gearbox remains unchanged, and the speed and precision with which it changes gear enables the bike to reach its top speed of 267.21km/h in no time at all. This performance is due to the adoption of new components taken from the F4 1000R. These modifications enabled the gear ring to be reduced by two teeth, shifting from a 15/43 to a 15/41 ratio. The EBS was replaced by an anti-dribble clutch used on the sporty version of the F4, with the aim of offering greater flexibility under acceleration. MV engineers also fitted a new, larger exhaust catalyst to comply with the Euro 3 standard. The end result is a smoother, more supple engine, even under hard acceleration.
a simpler chrome-plated trellis frame effectively handles the power of the reconfigured engine. Like the first version of the Brutale, the 750, the frame has been designed to withstand greater torsion and flexion. The geometry is the same as on previous versions. A wheelbase of 1410mm and an overall length of 2020mm, with a seat height of 101.5mm, all for a total unladen weight of 185kg. The swingarm and decor are symbols of the brand's technology and originality.
