mV-Agusta's sublime TNT barrel finally becomes a little more accessible. Following on from the Oro, RR and the Rush derivative, the Brutale 1000 moves downmarket to offer its high performance to a wider clientele (but only a little). The changes are mainly to the chassis. But beware, we're still talking premium, high adrenaline injection.

with its slaughterer's price tag, the 1000 RR was bound to offer some super suspension gear. In this case, semi-active Öhlins. To keep costs down, the RS opts for another level of suspension, with a 50 mm Marzocchi inverted fork and Sachs shock absorber. All elements are adjustable in all directions, with the bonus of slow and fast compression for the rear element. You'll have to get out the tools for adjustments, as there are no servo-motors and electronic brains like on Swedish suspensions. You lose moderately in quality and efficiency, but a lot in price.

the Brutale RS is also less radical than the RR. The half-guidelines have much higher arms, allowing you to switch from a café-racer-style riding position to something much more upright, more roadster-like. The seat has also made an effort, with softer padding. The rider benefits from greater comfort, a less extreme attitude, and just as much power at hand. For while the RS may seem more indulgent, its engine has made no concessions. We're still dealing with a monster of power.

the 4-cylinder shakes. Italy in concentrate, ready to explode when the revs go wild. The boldest will dare to take the crankshaft up to 13,000 rpm. The roar of the 4 exhaust pipes melds speed, the fury of 208 hp and exploding benchmarks. A big heart is recommended, and an addiction to fury is prescribed. Those who want to get to the heart of the matter will delight in the presence of titanium connecting rods; a material also used for the 16 valves.

When this beast is launched at full throttle, you need something strong to calm it down. Brembo Stylema calipers know how to do the job. Enough to bring the 320 mm discs to their knees. The rear will be more spared, but very useful for traj' corrections, making use of its 220 mm disc and 2-piston jaw. In addition to ABS, the brakes also feature an RLM anti-stoppie function.
The main architecture is, as usual, made up of a tubular steel structure mounted on aluminum plates.
