MV-Agusta has always made superb motorcycles. Sometimes divine, sometimes exceptional, tirelessly desirable, regularly 'capricious'. The same goes for the Superveloce, which is as beautiful as it gets. Some ladies are not content with their finery and want to charm their audience even more. That's why MV-Agusta also offers an S version of the "Ottocento".

A substantive S when improved versions of MVs tend to use RR or RC? Ad honorem, because these are not technical but cosmetic improvements. To highlight its diva aura, the Superveloce S is dressed in pearly white with gold accents. It's an Italian-style ice cream that's full of cream, yet dryly sporty.

Another highlight are the distinctive spoked wheels, found only on this model in the range. Also in gold, they blend in perfectly with the frame, while asserting a level of nobility. The saddles are also distinguished by a brown alcantara skin, rhyming in color with the leather belt garroting the tank.

The Superveloce S comes with a box containing a few little treats. Not exactly sweet treats, but rather the opposite, with the name "Racing kit". Inside, you'll find a seat cover with alcantara padding, to transform the MV into a single-seater (and racier) model, Arrow's delicately retro triple-outlet exhaust system and an associated chip. This equipment, already found on the Superveloce Oro, saved 5 horsepower and a serious handful of kilos.

MV-Agusta Superveloce 800 S is the Oro being replaced by this S? Not exactly. It doesn't have all the carbon parts, nor its exceptional limited-series look.
But let the spirits soar. Varese's neo-retro sportsbikes have mutated with Euro5 and are now technically fresh. The frame gains in rigidity with new side plates. The engine's internal parts have been reworked to enhance its curves, while E5 eats a horse; but it's still 147. The radiator is more efficient. Engine electronics are updated. The clutch is reinforced. The Up&Down shifter is upgraded to a 3.0 generation.

Last but not least , steering assistance is refined with the arrival of an IMU inertial unit. This allows anti-wheeling to become a control rather than an obstacle to pitching up; traction control and Launch Control are more precise. ABS now comes from Continental. Oh, and I almost forgot the new, more pastel-colored graphics on the 5.5-inch TFT instrument panel, as well as the 4 riding modes, cruise control, Bluetooth, motorcycle-smartphone communication with the MV Ride app, a Marzocchi inverted fork and Sachs shock absorber with multiple settings, Brembo radial brakes with 4 pins, 320 mm discs, new bevelled exhausts inviting themselves onto all the wheels of the 3-cylinder platform.... and all this in 173 kilos dry weight.

I know, I know what you're going to say... It's expensive, it tops out at 240, it doesn't have the reliability of a Japanese, the passenger is in agony and the driving position breaks the wrists. Yes, an MV-Agusta is deserved, coveted, supported and driven. Then you look at it and forget all about it? The Superveloce S does just that.
