The 2003 Ducati Desmosedici GP3: a symbol of Ducati's entry into MotoGP

Among the lots offered for sale, the 2003 Ducati Desmosedici GP3 attracted particular attention. This bike, Ducati's first four-stroke factory racing machine for the MotoGP class, was ridden by Loris Capirossi during Ducati's inaugural season in MotoGP. The Italian rider scored Ducati's first success in this category at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in 2003.

Equipped with a 989 cm³ V4 engine delivering over 220 horsepower, this iconic motorcycle sold for 237,500 euros. Despite some minor modifications, such as the addition of traction control and carbon brake discs, the bike remains in perfect working order, ready to ride!

2007 Ducati Desmosedici GP7: a Stoner coup!

The second bike, the 2007 Ducati Desmosedici GP7, represents another milestone for Ducati. It was on this bike that Australian Casey Stoner won his first MotoGP World Championship title (he would triumph again in 2011), marking a historic season for the Italian marque.

Restored with original parts by Ducati specialist Dave Allenby, it's also ready to race, with a 799 cm³ V4 engine capable of over 220 hp and more than 300 km/h. The GP7 was sold for 475,000 euros.

Proof that Ducati's hegemony has been gradually forged, these sales offered a unique opportunity for collectors to own masterpieces of MotoGP history. They bear witness to the Bologna-based manufacturer's enduring legacy in the world of motorcycle racing, at a time when the brand continues to dominate the premier class in 2024. With a total of over 700,000 euros generated by these two historic machines weighing less than 150 kg, the appeal of Ducati racing motorcycles remains undeniable for motorsport enthusiasts.
