Norton's 588 is in the spotlight in 2024. Half of the models in the 125th Anniversary Limited Edition range take up the theme of this little-known motorcycle from another era. It was a surprising and conquering sports bike, but one with a complicated destiny.
Norton remembers and shows it with the V4 SV 1200 Limited Edition "588".
The bodywork of this Norton is exactly the same as that of the Norton F1 and the competition models (NRS, RC and RCW) powered by the 588 engine. The forged aluminum OZ racing wheels are gilded here, perfectly punctuating the Öhlins suspensions (already present on the standard V4 SV). The seat is specially designed, and a special "125th anniversary" logo on the seat cover adds the finishing touch to an already superb machine.
The F1 588 was the civilian version of the manufacturer's Wankel-powered racing bikes. Around the '90s, with this rotary engine, they scored a number of victories in the British championships and provided a remarkable demonstration of Norton's ever-voracious determination to impose its brand.
Norton's flagship model for the Tourist Trophy, the V4 SV is also a beautiful and bewitching machine, with a powerful V-4 cylinder and a limited market. But what an admirable object to celebrate the history of a name, an idea and a slice of competition.
The entire 125th anniversary collection will be limited to 125 examples. After that, how many units of each L.E. model will there be? Only orders will decide. It's not the manufacturer but demand that will favor this or that version.
