presentation of the 1200 V4 CR prototype 2022
After a period in the wilderness due to restructuring (takeover by TVS), Norton is slowly returning to the market. The first step was a new 1200 V4 SV. A hypersport, more nobility than Superbike. As the majority of manufacturers produce a roadster from their wheeled rockets, the small English manufacturer decided to do the same with the V4 CR.
The least we can say is that Norton doesn't compromise. Its new machine is a pure café-racer, with a demanding look and the physique of a pop-rock-underground junkie. The rider is committed to gripping the front end in a very sporty way: the straps are low, the inverted fork ready to be dominated, there's no protection and the sensations are skin-deep.
The V4 CR is all about powder! Its engine is the sporty 4-cylinder V, with 185 horsepower. Big watts and big torque with a displacement of 1200 cm3, sandwiched between the fury of a KTM Superduke and the insanity of Ducati Streetfighters.
Norton's niche is premium. The whole bike is packed with beautiful parts. Öhlins suspension, carbon tank and trim parts, polished aluminum swingarm and frame, Brembo Stylema brakes, monobrakes, large TFT display, etc.
For the moment, this sumptuous and aggressive Cafra is just a prototype. However, it should soon lead to a production model. Norton has no immediate plans to revive the Commando line. The return to business will be with powerful machines capable of giving you big thrills. The V4 CR fits the bill, for a predictably violent price.
