presentation of the Prototype 86 2019
It looks like a bicycle. In fact, it has all the attributes of one, except the pedals. Yet its designers define it as a motorcycle in its own right. In fact, you don't come across many bicycles that hurtle along at almost 100 km/h on flat roads. In this futuristic form, the numbers go wild. The weight of a dishwasher, 200 cm3 of power, much more torque than a 1700 V-Max, mountain bike brakes, the price of a car... Sensations promised with this prototype from Novus.
like so many start-ups, Novus Motorcycle wants to develop a very personal vision of the motorized two-wheeler of tomorrow. Audacity, technology and innovation are the words that orbit this creation. The fearless shape of the frame is a complete surprise. It's made entirely of carbon, as is the fork, composed of spars attached to a damping system under the stem. To simplify transmission, the motor is mounted directly in the rear hub.
no mirrors, plates or indicators - this is not yet a road bike. But it does have headlights, cleverly tucked under the handlebars and at the end of the seat. It also has surprising claims. Novus presents it as capable of reaching 96 km/h. To achieve this, its propeller distributes up to 14 kW, the power of a small single-cylinder engine. Torque is another matter altogether. A colossal 20.3 mkg is available! By way of comparison, a ZZR 1400 can deliver 16.1. But while the Kawasaki has to lift over 250 kilos of metal and plastic, the Novus weighs just 36 kilos. A rabbit with the strength of a bear.
To stop it, there's one 230 mm brake disc per wheel, and 1 piston per caliper.
its battery lasts a maximum of 96 km. It can recover 80% of its charge in 1 hour. The on-board interface is not on the machine, but via a smartphone app that simply clips onto the top of the frame. The app acts as a keyless entry system, providing access to all the information.
No marketing date has yet been announced. However, a price is already on the site. 39,500 dollars. Add a bit of VAT and you've got a motorcycle-bike hybrid just a little more expensive than a Panigale V4R.
