presentation of the BIC 500 8V RU 2007

Paton was an emblematic figure in the world of competition; more specifically, in GP racing. The Italian brand has passed through the ages, through champions, and little of it remains today.
But a motivation, a passion, something exceptional inscribed in the genetics of this name. That's part of what gave birth to this BIC 500 8V RU - a pure replica like none you've ever seen before.

rU stands for "Riedizione Ufficiale". Giuseppe Pattoni's son, Roberto, is responsible for the production of this new sports car of yesteryear. Numerous requests from fans convinced him to build a racing Paton, but as it used to be. He chose the 1968 BIC 500 as his model, and reproduced it almost identically. Not a neo-retro, not a tribute, not a modern interpretation! A true copy of the 60s machine.

the silhouette, the chassis, the long tank, the forks, the drum brakes (yes, yes...) - this is a real motorcycle from that era. A lucky owner would tell you he'd brought it back from a trip with Marty Mc Fly, you'd believe him. The engine, too, is just as it was back then. It's impossible to fit a modern engine here, with liquid cooling, uranium pistons and excessive power. The Paton's engine is identical to the BIC's in every respect. The parallel twin cubes 498 cm3, features cooling fins, 8 valves and 40 mm Dell'Orto carburetors. At the dawn of the 70s, this block produced just over sixty horsepower. Today, it's rated at 79 hp at 11,800 rpm. And some 5.46 mkg of torque at 9,050 rpm. More than respectable performance for a half-litre mill. But that's not the most important thing. What counts is this mechanic, with its flavour of yesterday, its superb appearance, uncluttered to let the metal express itself.

Paton BIC 500 8V RU 2007The frame is all the sweeter for it. Forget aluminum structures, and let the steering dictate its feelings to this double tubular steel cradle. And rediscover emotions that technology has forgotten. Simplistic half handlebars are anchored to 35 mm Ceriani forks. The shock absorbers come from the same manufacturer. Brakes? 210 mm drums at the front and 180 mm at the rear. No ABS, traction control or anything else to interfere with the rider and the race. Raw, dry, unfiltered flavor.
And don't think that the Paton is totally out of its depth. It holds its own in Classic racing. Collectors and enthusiasts of motorcycles of this stature make no mistake. With only 135 kilos on the scales and tires as narrow as a remote control, drawing tight trajectories and playing with its size must prove to be riding caviar.

being built today, the Paton benefits from better production techniques, but that's all. All its special features are authentic. Something rare, artisanal, meticulous, almost fabulous. And deserved. Production is limited to 50 units, produced in small batches. The price is commensurate, at 79,000 euros, excluding VAT.
