presentation of the AKIRA - moto de Kaneda 2019
This future is that of the famous AKIRA manga. While the future depicted in this animated film is far from encouraging, it does feature a machine that has caught the eye of many a motorcyclist. A motorcycle, of course, but not just any motorcycle. That of Kaneda, one of the story's main characters, leader of a gang of thugs, a reckless, angry biker in love with his machine.
Neither the manufacturer nor the model name have ever been mentioned. But its specific features are sure to leave a lasting impression. Underneath its ultra-futuristic, sporty exterior, the machine has plenty to frighten. 2-wheel drive, double ceramic rotor, a claimed 200 hp (the debate isn't over on power - some sources claim only 100 hp, which would be astonishing for a 2019 machine), electronically-controlled ABS, CD player, on-board computer, navigation system, and the most interesting is yet to come.

the enormous rear monobracket is merely a cover that houses a support beam, a huge rear disc and the transmission system. The front axle consists of 4 Öhlins shock absorbers supporting huge wheel mountings. Braking, entrusted to Brembo, is assured by 4-piston calipers the size of Michael Jordan's shoe. The dry weight of 154 kg seems very respectable given the machine's size.
as for the mechanics... Apart from the fact that it's a dual-rotor ceramic model, and a strong assumption of a magnetic motor assembly housed in the wheels, we don't know much about it. Perhaps the film, due to be released in the near future, will tell us more.
sitting 34 cm off the ground, the pilot enjoys extraordinary protection, with the cockpit and huge bubble forming an imposing shell. These elements are much appreciated in the world of Tetsuo and Kaneda, where violence is part of everyday life, and a powerful, imposing machine ensures a certain respectability within the clans.
The motorcycle has become an almost inescapable part of pop culture. It even managed to secure a role in the film "Ready Player One", where it accompanies one of the film's most important characters, Art3mis. A moment of glory, shared with the DeLorean from "Back to the Future". That says it all.
