presentation of the RMX 450 Z 2012
based on the RM-Z 450, the first cross-country bike to feature electronic fuel injection, the RMX 450 Z is a true enduro bike for true off-road riders. No compromises: the changes made to the cross-country machine have been made to create a true enduro machine with top-level performance.
equipped with fuel injection, the RMX 450 Z's engine has undergone minor changes compared to the 4-valve, double-actuated single of its cousin, the RM-Z 450. Light in weight, it now features redesigned camshafts for greater smoothness and improved low- and mid-range power. The 5-speed gearbox has also been revised, offering a range of ratios to suit a wide variety of conditions. The RMX 450 Z is also equipped with an electric starter powered by an alternator and a compact battery, so there's no need to kick-start the bike when crossing.
derived from the RMZ 450, this enduro's suspension offers excellent absorption of both small shocks and large compressions. At the front, the 47 mm diameter Showa telescopic fork is adjustable for compression and rebound damping. At the rear, its separate cylinder monoshock is adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. Although the suspension comes from a cross-country machine, the setting is of course suitable for enduro use.
resistant and reliable, the RMX 450 Z's very compact dashboard is a real little on-board computer with a digital display offering two types of display. With its reduced display, Sport mode allows the rider to concentrate more fully; the screen shows only the lap time, distance covered and average speed. In standard mode, the dial also displays instantaneous speed, the time, both trips and a reserve indicator. A protective shoe has also been fitted.
