presentation of the GSX 250 R 2019

Would you believe it if we told you that the battle would be fiercer among the 300 sports cars than among the 600 Supersports? And yet, that's the reality today. With the GSX 250 R, the clan of little dykes is getting even bigger. Every Japanese manufacturer now has its own little sports bike: Kawasaki Ninja 400, Yamaha YZF-R3, Honda CBR 300 R (not imported) and now the GSX 250 R. And that's not counting the KTM RC 390, Benelli Tornado 302 and the hypothetical BMW S 310 RR. Meanwhile, the end has come for the 600 GSX-R, CBR 600 RR, ZX-6R and Daytona 675.
Has the battle shifted? No, times are changing.

the GSX 250 R responds to strong demand from Asian markets. Mostly. But, like its rivals, it also appeals to a new and growing clientele: A2 license holders. With their ease of use, compact size and measured power, these machines offer real advantages for having fun without spending a fortune or a fright. The little Suzuki is just such a machine. Its name alone is an invitation to sport. But let's be clear about one little thing. It's not exactly a GSX-R, but a GSX 250 R. The subtlety of the names tells us that it's not quite a sports bike (GSX-R) but rather a sports tourer. The Hayabusa plays on the same ambiguity, its name being GSX 1300 R and not GSX-R 1300.

Suzuki GSX 250 R 2019In short, Suzuki has a new sports machine. And it's rather pretty. It doesn't betray the company's spirit, and does everything to flatter the eye. Streamlined and incisive, the Suz' aims to please and enhance both its size and its rider. The rear and front lights are LED, the cockpit is generous with its 1000 GSX-R-style full LCD instrument panel, and the riding position is more than adequate, with half handlebars above the fork crown and low footrests. Sport-GT! Too bad it doesn't have the keyless start system of its little sister, the GSX-R 125.
But whether it's a tourer or a sports bike, a GSX.....R has to move forward. Suzuki installs a 248 cm3 twin in this machine, taken from the ex-Inazuma250 but reworked. The cam profile is optimized for acceleration between 20 and 90 km/h, the speed range most used by users of this displacement according to the brand. New valves improve intake flow and new parts reduce friction losses. All in all, this block produces 25 hp at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 2.5 mkg at 6,500 rpm. Values in keeping with the engine's displacement, but well below the standards of the segment it tickles. Competitors orbit around 40 hp. All the more so as the GSX 250 R is heavy: 181 kilos on the scales. This confirms its role as more of a tourer than a sports bike.

in terms of chassis and technology, it uses simple, tried-and-tested solutions, as do its rivals. For this segment and this level of performance, there's no need for aluminum frames, magnesium or expensive materials that wouldn't change a thing, except for the price. Kayaba suspensions consist of a conventional fork and a monoshock. Each wheel is fitted with a petal disc, and the whole system is backed up by ABS. As for the frame, everyone will be happy with a double steel cradle.
The Suzuki GSX250R arrives not as a bloody conqueror, but as an affordable Sport-GT. It doesn't stand out from the crowd in terms of technology or engine, but its GSX-R design and pricing policy should be more appealing.

Pas si mal et amusante
French Model 2019
I think you're very hard on this little bike. I like small bikes.
And this is what you get!
If you know how to ride, you'll have a blast, just change the original tires
But don't put off anyone who might fall for it
This is my 2nd bike for the Paris region.
The other is a bigger BMW f850gs and yet I keep my little gex because it gives me a banana when I ride it.

French zombu1106 Model 2017
nice little sports car with a totally anemic engine... the power of a 125 (2-stroke) from the late 80s! Rating : 1/5
Hybride?
French Jeff2A Model 2018
Neither sport nor GT, only price may interest some.
Because as for the rest...
only 25 bhp for a 250 cc twin-cylinder?
In the early 1980s, the same or even more power was already being produced on air-cooled 4-strokes without fuel injection or electronic ignition (e.g. the CB 250 and Z 250 generations).
And this one is 180 kg heavier!
The weight of an MT07 with 3x less power lol...
Rating : 1/5

Motorcycle unworthy of the brand. Good looks, good finish, but that's it.
Dull engine, exorbitant price, performance of its little 125cc sister.

GSX-R 250?
French Jeff2A Model 2017
Not convincing at all, it doesn't even deserve to be called a GSX-R, just a GS. 180 kg is the weight of a 600...with only 25 hp to power it all. Frankly, it's on a par with a 125...not a 250...with that, it's no match for the 300cc Yam or Kawa models, which produce an average of 40hp without being bombshells. With today's technology, you can easily get 48 bhp out of a 250cc engine, which can still be used on a daily basis with a well-tuned transmission. To be competitive with only 25 hp, it would have to weigh a maximum of 120/130 kg in running order, without being too light or dangerous, because it's better to have 130 kg to brake than 180... keep going the way you're going in Su(z)cette... Even its price isn't attractive. A Yamaha R3 is a little over 10% more expensive (+ €600), but incomparably more pleasant and efficient
The engine was well suited to the spirit of the Inazuma (basic, utility-oriented and attractively priced), but not for this version.
