presentation of the V-Strom 800 D.E. Rally Edition 2023
Dual Explorer! That's what the DE stands for on the V-Strom. It's clear that this bike wants to explore many things. A new segment, new roads, a new audience, a new hardcore-origami design... and even a little more gritty with this special "Rally" series.
the deco gives a little "factory machine" flavor, with graphics on the front fender, hand guards, tank, shoulders, rear frame, fork and rims.
With all its stickers and bits of armor, the Rally Edition instantly exudes a sportier, gruffer look. Make way for the rocks, and it's ready to roll without a care in the world.
To build and maintain momentum, the tires here are Bridgestone AX41s, far more off-road than the original Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour (which are still included, but supplied separately). From there, the trail thinks of protecting the essentials, above all its all-new-all-recent-all-beautiful engine with a big aluminum boot. A pair of crashbars will also be much appreciated when the bike is flung to the ground.
with its protective package, the mid-range V-Strom puts a lot of weight on its shoulders. Already not particularly light, it's going to have to shoulder around 240 kilos to take out on the trails. Compared to a 700 Ténéré or a 660 Tuareg weighing 204 kilos, it's a different story.
The "Rally Edition" curriculum is available in two ways:
- either you already own an 800 V-Strom D E and can offer it the accessory pack for 1,299 euros. Prepare a few tools and a little patience, and it's up to you to install the gear.
- Or you can buy the bike in exchange for 13 bricks. But the advertised price is not quite the price of the bike. The V-Strom Rally Edition actually costs 12,798 euros; the price advertised at the dealership includes labour. This gives us an additional 1,299 euros + MO.
An "off-road-spirit" operation, as is fashionable these days. In addition to the plethora of trail bikes on the market, more and more variations are being developed to entice users to go off-roading and adventure. The 800 V-strom offers them the chance to set the pace with its 776 cm3 twin-cylinder, 84 hp and 8 mkg. Equipment includes 21" and 17" spoked wheels, Showa adjustable suspension, 5" color TFT screen, USB port, shifter, 3 engine maps, traction control with 4 levels of intervention + off, Easy Start System and Low RPM Assist.
