The last thing we want to ask is why Triumph has added the word "Stealth" to a motorcycle that just wants to be noticed. Whether it's its violent silhouette, its "Purple" colored tank or its rocky gangster face, this special edition Bobber moves the eyes without warning.

Every year has its own Triumph collection. Last year, it was chrome. In 2024, it's a gradient on the tank, with a more or less trashy color scheme depending on the bike. The 1200 Bobber has the most rocking look of the bunch, with a fleeting black that quickly transitions to a purple bordering on punk. This is the kind of bike you'd expect to see under the guitar assaults of Green Day, Offspring or Prodigy.

Only the treatment of the fuel tank justifies the Stealth specificity. How does Triumph do it? The process begins with the application of a base coat of mirror-finish "Silver Ice" metallic, followed by a precisely placed gradation of "Sapphire Black" graphite, from darkest to lightest. Finally, a translucent tinted varnish is applied in several coats to create a deep, rich topcoat.

So much for technique. In the field, under the sun or in the spotlight, the great advantage of this work, carried out by hand, is a different perception of color depending on the angle of view or lighting conditions. The Bobber is precisely the kind of custom that likes to be looked at from all angles. The big front end, the sultry, streamlined rear end with suspended seat, the deceptively hardtail rear end, the bevelled mufflers, the straight-as-an-i engine that seems to take up all the space.

At first glance, this twin looks like a monster. The 1200 inscribed on the block, completed by the HT (for High Torque), thunders like a threat. Yet it produces just 78 horsepower. Its strength lies elsewhere. It's the torque and feel that really stir the emotions, with a presence worthy of a big dog chasing a rabbit. The maximum torque of 10.8 mkg is reached at just 4,000 rpm.

The Bobber may look like something out of a '60s American gang, but its underpinnings are very much up to date. The throttle is Ride by Wire, the headlights are LED, and the riding aids are well hidden but present, with cruise control, ABS, disconnectable traction control and two riding modes.
For macho, solo, no-nonsense riding, with that LSD topping on the tank, the Bobber Stealth Edition will set you back 800 euros more than the classic model - I mean Modern Classics.
