presentation of the Tiger 800 XRX 2020

Does the 800 Tiger road trip really only begin with the XRX version? Triumph's equipment clearly suggests so. There's nothing to throw away on the XR, the base model; but it's looked at with a certain disdain once you've discovered this more upmarket model. Of all the improvements Triumph's mid-size trails have received, it's here that we discover the most notable differences with the previous generation.

Not very aesthetically, admittedly. The few alterations are not enough to create a real feeling of difference between the two opuses. The difference is most noticeable on the engine side. Revised for greater liveliness, it receives the reinforcement of a gearbox with a shortened first gear for even more pep. Braking is handled by Brembo, for added stature. But what will really grab your attention is right in front of you. Not right away, but while you're driving.

It's now that the XR and ex-XRX will seem like a thing of the past. All it takes is a 5" TFT color display to symbolically tip it into an even more technological world. And technically too. The dashboard is very pleasant to look at, with 6 types of display. The technological contribution continues with a revised cruise control and new LED lighting.

Triumph Tiger 800 XRX 2020 - 1Triumph Tiger 800 XRX 2020 - 1

The X's price range is a clear step up from the XR. This is logical, given the extra package provided. No need to look in the options box, there's plenty to do. Compared to the basic version, this 800 Tiger comes with a 5-position adjustable windshield with a set of deflectors, a 5-position joystick to control the on-board electronics, four modes of operation and a new, more powerful and more powerful engine.lectronics, 4 riding modes - Road - Rain - Off-road - Sport -, a cold-weather alliance of heated handguards and grips, and radiator protection.
And last but not least, all 800 Tiger road bikes feature the same equipment: 12V and USB sockets, adjustable seat and handlebars, ABS and disconnectable traction control, and an enthusiastically behaving three-cylinder engine. Combined with a faultless chassis that's an excellent ally for all types of riding.

With the Tiger 800 XRX, Triumph is fine-tuning its cards to keep the BMW competition at bay. More attractive than the XR, less abundant than the XRt, this is a trail bike with a certain opulence. Further and further removed from the original concept, but more in tune with modern use. For trail riding, the XC version is more appropriate, but no less well-equipped.

French swC87 Model 2019
An excellent all-round bike, certainly the most versatile on the market... from city riding to long-distance touring, or even TT for the XC versions
The three-stroke engine, while lacking in character, does the job brilliantly and smoothly... Fatigue-free travel... for long hours
The chassis is beyond reproach, and comfort is top-notch, with good protection against the elements and a low, comfortable saddle
As for reliability, it's excellent in the sense that I've never experienced a blocking breakdown. However, there are a few minor finishing problems... One commodo cap and 2 rear blinker caps have fallen off... A slight crack appeared on the dashboard... Triumph took care of all this without difficulty under warranty.
