presentation of the 900 TIGER T709 2000
with the Tiger, you can now treat yourself to a trail bike in the service of her majesty. Typically British, its original engine, instrumentation and quality aesthetics make it a machine full of charm. Triumph's engine is a 3-cylinder, even for its road-going trail. While it's not overly demonstrative, and rather lacking in muscular thrills, it is surprisingly flexible. So there's no need to worry about taming a wild horse. More athletic riders, however, will regret this overly polished behavior. The chassis is highly homogeneous, emphasizing rigorous roadholding. Sitting relatively close to the handlebars, the rider is free to play. The firmness and good workmanship of the suspension continue to reassure, and the braking will remove any criticism. It's a trail bike, but it almost behaves like a roadster. Its direct competitor, the Varadero, will not be easy to oust, especially on long-distance terrain. It shares the same shortcoming: a too-short gear ratio; and the Tiger doesn't offer such good protection.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 6 reviews
The bike is very pleasant to ride in cruising mode, healthy, powerful enough for solo riding, fairly agile and with amazing roadholding. Reasonable fuel consumption: 6l when 2-up and 5l alone when riding cool
On the negative side, I'd say the braking is borderline as soon as you turn up the heat, and the engine really struggles once it's loaded, being a little too linear and requiring you to get the horsepower out of the revs, which for a touring trail is a bit of a contradiction in terms
As for reliability, I had a broken timing chain 400 km after purchase, which allowed me to see that the engine was quite easy to dismantle!
Certain accessories like crashbars are hard to find, as the bike has only been out for 2 years.
In short, if I had to do it all over again, I'd look for a 955, which has a slightly more powerful engine and is obviously better suited to a loaded duo. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Stephrider
nothing to complain about. Loaded with camping gear, it's healthy and the engine doesn't run out of steam.
Faults: high center of gravity, need to be careful when maneuvering, longer 6th gear for the freeway, tube tires difficult to repair at the roadside.
I'm very satisfied. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Chtirli
Parts can be found on ebay, this 99/2000 series was assembled with standard components found on later versions...
It's possible to gain 4cm in height and lower the center of gravity by turning the axle concentrics on the rear wheel...
you'll need to shorten the side stand...
It'll take you anywhere! Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
