with 2014, the Speed Triple 1050 R is striving to become more financially accessible. A roadster of choice with formidable efficiency, the British streetfighter has until now suffered from a stifling price tag. Now, the Speed with a sporty twist should attract a wider audience, thanks to a lower price and enhanced equipment... well, almost.
In addition to its sporty equipment (to be rediscovered below), Hinckley's spirited roadster gains a small windscreen, an engine cowling and a seat cover matching the general color scheme.aBS as standard, a splash of red paint on the radiator scoops and a touch of cosmetics with red edging on the rims and black-coated muffler guards. On the other hand, to reduce the pain, we had to part with some of the beautiful original equipment. And it's the wheels that have been sacrificed. The R-style Speed Triple now sits on the rims of a standard Speed 1050 instead of the lightweight PVM forged-aluminum wheels.
this Speed also features an inverted NIX 30 fork and TTX36 shock absorber from the famous Swedish manufacturer. There's also a red-painted rear frame, as on the Daytona 675 R, and a few carbon parts (radiator scoops, airbox cover, front mudguard). Combined with Brembo monobloc brakes, the Speed claims a 5% gain in braking efficiency over the "basic" Speed.
