The 900 Street Scrambler is a rather special Bonneville. It's a machine designed for personal escapism, whether in urban areas or on country lanes. It's neither off-road, nor 900 under three-phase voltage; it's earth air with a nice breeze.
This year, and only this year, the Street Scrambler is dressed up in its Gold Line edition. A bit of subtlety and gold to flatter style lovers. As with all Bonnie models, it's the tank that benefits most from the work of the craftsmen.
They pick up a brush and hand-draw golden lines in one continuous stroke. The sunny cords surf the blue-pacific color to draw brushed-aluminum knee pads, an underlining of the stripe band encircling the tank, as well as the Triumph, Gold Line and Street Scrambler logos.
A nice color scheme, but nothing to get excited about. This isn't a TFC, or even a SE, which usually comes with a few accessories. The Gold Line is content with this ornamental work, which is certainly pleasing to the eye. A little treasure hunt for owners: look for the initials - these are those of the painter responsible for the delicate work.
The Triumph Street Scrambler Gold Line is technically identical to the standard model, powered by a 65 hp parallel twin. With 8.2 mkg delivered at just 3,250 rpm, the torque is more interesting, and more likely to provide a pleasant feel. It's equipped with disconnectable ABS and traction control, three riding modes (Road - Rain - Off-Road), an under-seat USB socket, Brembo brakes, an exhaust system that's likely to heat up your right leg, and spoked wheels with cobblestone treads.
On the financial side , the bill is pretty hefty for a bike of this power level. Plus an additional 800 euros for this limited edition (in time). Triumph's finish comes at a price, as does the undeniable charm of this machine.
