For this new special edition, the Thruxton RS gets an all-chrome fuel tank and a few black-painted components. Available only in 2023 for an additional 800 euros.

No , wait, that can't be right! You can't define a bike model like that... even if those are the only differences between it and the standard Thruxton RS. A little reading, some fodder for the search engines and a modicum of courtesy for this fine British café-racer.

Last year, it missed out on the "Gold Line" wave, whose foam covered a dozen or so models in the Bonneville family. This time, Triumph is including it in the new "Chrome" collection. A selection of 10 machines whose fuel tanks have been given a special treatment, with varying degrees of color and silver mirroring. For the Thruxton, there's no room for nuance. Full chrome for the belly, and that's it.

The whole story of this collection is here, on this tank. After it's made, a guy spends 3 hours polishing it, then another 2 hours applying himself to get that finish. Five hours of work for this piece illuminating the Thuxton... It only takes 2 to 3 times as long to build a complete motorcycle. The other elements likely to receive some kind of decoration were hidden in the half-light so as not to interfere.

As with the "Gold Line", Triumph's "Chrome" models will only be available for one year. In short, it's vintage. Whether you think of it as a marketing operation or as a delicate, precious design touch, the seductive side of this model makes its presence perfectly felt.
Let's leave the tank aside for a moment. Underneath, above all, it's a clean-cut, bourgeois Cafra, designed for neo-retro sportiness. With its 105 hp parallel twin, high-quality suspension (Showa and Öhlins adjustable in all directions), serious Brembo brakes and gentleman-racer riding position, the Thruxton RS exudes the glory of British racing days.

Note that the Chrome Edition is priced the same as last year's Ton-Up series.
