presentation of the RANGER 2016
Let's get down to business. This model comes from the army. It's a bike that's ready to take on any terrain. It has the highest ground clearance of the whole range, and the side wheel is clutchable (without differential) to get out of almost any difficult situation.
The equipment is quite atypical: shovel, swivelling headlamp, luggage rack on the spare wheel, air pump, complete toolbox, spare fuel tank and paint pods to correct any minor snags the rider may have.
This is the brand's tank. A block of steel on three wheels.
Paint: matte uniton or multiton. Always matte. In the most varied shades, but guaranteed: no shine, no chrome.
Ural motorcycles are resolutely atypical. You don't buy them for top speed, you buy them for a certain state of mind. To use a horse metaphor, they could be likened to big percherons ready to go anywhere at a relative pace, but with a feeling of being able to reach the end of the world. The basket is simple and well finished. It's pleasantly comfortable, but, according to some users, it's still pretty shaky. However, if the road is a little too chaotic for the passenger, the rider will have no problem dropping down to a lower gear, while still enjoying the pleasure of being on the handlebars.
As for the engine, all models in the range use a 750cm3 fuel-injected boxer flat engine. So, yes, this mill isn't a thunderbolt, and its power output is out of date, but it's a pleasure to use, as it's docile over almost its entire operating range. Torque at the bottom and an unrivalled willingness to pull the 300kg-plus unit. Besides, it's hard to imagine a 200 hp four-cylinder engine under there! It wouldn't do any good.
