presentation of the 750 Octobre rouge II - KRASNYJ OKTJABR II 2021

This new "Red October II" edition of the Ural sidecar will be more symbolic than the other Russian special series. It comes just a few weeks after the death of the iconic Sean Connery.

What's the connection? Important for movie buffs. More than famous for his portrayal of James Bond, Sir Thomas Sean Connery played the role of a submarine commander in the film "In Pursuit of Red October". Coincidentally, the Scottish actor passed away at the end of October.

Ural dedicates this second production of Red October to him. The first was presented in 2010, and like it, the new one is painted entirely in red. Except for the engine, exhaust mufflers, basket-mounted luggage rack, bumper, handlebars, wheels, shock absorbers and front and rear headlamp mounts, which are covered in black. The only visual difference is the basket's large tattoos. Make and model are written in Russian, in recognition of the motherland.

The Red October II has gained in equipment since the first opus. 5-stage heated grips for the rider, LED headlights, a heated passenger seat in the basket and a matching KEIS J501 heated jacket. The Russian machine is also thinking in terms of modern gadgets, equipping itself with everything needed to plug them in. Two USB ports and a 12V socket are integrated into a box that doubles as a fuse box. A basic and frankly ugly installation, but ultra-accessible for both use and repair. Real Ural!

Ural 750 side-car Octobre rouge II only 20 units of this special edition will be sold. It's based on the CT model with 18-inch wheels and some forty horsepower from its 745 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. 320 kilos ready to go - just about anywhere, given the Ural's ability to tackle any terrain. Designed, but for how many km before getting out the tools...
Pricing-wise, it's more Moscow than Murmansk. The Red October II retails for 4,000 euros more than the CT. Where it really chokes is when you see the inflation over the last 10 years. The first version cost almost half as much.

The ultimate wink is the survival kit attached behind the basket with THE symbol of Soviet communism: the sickle and hammer. The emblem was born after the October Revolution of 1917. The name of the submarine in our story refers precisely to this event.
In this box, the contents are emblematic as well as ideal for consoling yourself once lost on the great steppes near Poliarny: a packet of chewing gum, a tin of sardines and a bottle of vodka. Pora tovarishch kapitan!

* The Vilnius professor. In the short autobiography about Makco Ramius, the commander of the Red October, Jack Ryan explains to Admiral James Greer that Ramius has trained a whole generation of officers and has been testing all the big submarines for a decade. Vilnius is the city near which he grew up.
