presentation of the 1700 VEGAS HIGH BALL 2012
the bobber spirit had not yet really taken hold of the Victory clan. The cruiser range needed something more equivocal, more tempered, more vintage. So here we have the High Ball, a new version of the Vegas. A custom bike with a retro spirit, a slight post-war flavour and stripped-down styling, without being as "bobberized" as a Henchman-type Saxon. This 1700 High Ball is somewhere between a Sportster 48 and a Cross Bones. The rider will have just as much style on the Victory as on the Harley, thanks in part to the ascending Ape Hanger handlebars. With hands at slap height and feet well forward, the ride is both expressive and striking. However, you may be tired of the wind tickling your armpits... It's all taken care of: a set of tools, a few turns of the screw, and your handlebars are in the low-riding position.
on the High-Ball, black is the order of the day, from the end of the mirrors to the tip of the dual exhaust! Handlebars, headlight cladding, fork tees, frame, mudguards, cylinder head... All of a sudden, the white sidewalls of the tires jump out at you. Mounted on 16-inch spoked rims, the Victory is vintage in spirit. With no seat or passenger footrest, the machine makes it clear that it doesn't want to share you with anyone.
Powered by the hearty 1731 cm3 'Freedom' V-twin, you won't be disappointed by the price/performance/performance ratio. For 5,000 euros less than a Cross-Bones, Victory offers twenty or so more horsepower, a much more efficient chassis and outstanding build quality. The twin-cylinder 106 is certainly more powerful than a Twin Cam, but it feels a little too linear, less rocky, less scrappy, less American, more Yankee.
