presentation of the 500 DS 2022

A premium brand from the Chinese Loncin Group, Voge arrived on the French market in 2019 with a range of affordable motorcycles, comprising three roadsters, two of which are 300 cm3, the 300 R Street and 300 AC models, and one 500 cm3 model, the 500 R Street. Since then, the range has continued to expand, notably with the appearance of the Voge 500 DS in 2020.

Powered by a 471 cm3 vertical twin-cylinder engine, this flattering-looking Chinese model is a direct competitor to the Honda CB 500 X, from which it draws its aesthetic inspiration. Equipped with a double overhead camshaft and liquid cooling, this little twin delivers 46 hp at 8,500 rpm and 42.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

The 500 DS will be a delight for A2 license holders, who will be able to ride it without any additional restrictions. It is also equipped with a traditional six-speed gearbox and chain final drive. Its reasonable seat height of 815 mm, combined with its low kerb weight of 205 kg, makes it easy to handle and reassuring for inexperienced bikers.

Voge 500 DS 2022 - 1Voge 500 DS 2022 - 1

Voge 500 DS Further proof that the 500 DS was really designed with beginners in mind is the generous crash-bar that encircles and protects the entire front end of the bike, from the anchoring points on the frame at the rear of the cylinder head and at the base of the cylinder, to the tip of the pointed muzzle. A good idea that will prevent damage to your beautiful motorcycle during minor falls from a standstill or at very low speeds - falls which, alas, are almost inevitable when you're just starting out. What's more, this accessory gives the bike a slightly adventurous look, in the manner of the big GS-type trail bikes that are happily fitted with tubes when you want to try out the joys of off-road riding. Despite this, the 500 DS is designed above all for on-road use, rather than off-road, as evidenced by its 120/60x17 wheels at the front and 160/60x17 at the rear, shod with Pirelli Angel tires. It's worth noting that the design of the spoked wheels is rather airy and elegant.

As for the chassis, the 500 DS is classic but effective, with a steel trellis frame fitted with KYB suspension, and a handsome upside-down front fork. The braking system is supplied by Japanese manufacturer Nissin, backed up by a Bosch ABS.

The good surprises continue to appear as we go into more detail on this young Chinese model, which offers all-LED lighting (front, rear and indicators), with an automatic daytime running mode. The 500 DS also offers a USB socket, and a tire pressure sensor (yes sir!), which is an excellent initiative as far too many motorcyclists, whether beginners or experienced, neglect to check their tire pressure regularly: a heresy when we know how much it influences the bike's handling, and therefore the pleasure of riding, but also and above all, roadholding and therefore safety.

Voge 500 DS the Voge 500 DS also comes with an original package carrier and center stand. The rather generous bubble is adjustable, and the 17.2-liter fuel tank promises a good range with this engine, which shouldn't prove too greedy. A final refinement, and a significant one at that, the cockpit features a TFT instrument panel with Bluetooth connection, as do the top-of-the-range bikes from the major motorcycle manufacturers.

But the best is yet to come: the Euro5-compatible Voge 500 DS is priced at €6,195, while the version equipped with full aluminum luggage (35-liter side cases and 40-liter top case) costs just €700 more. That's €100 less than a basic Honda CB500X.

With such a high level of equipment and satisfactory perceived quality, the Voge 500 DS offers a real alternative that has what it takes to win you over. A motorcycle that's worth a detour!

It is also available with aluminum luggage (2 panniers + top case) for 6,895 euros.

French marco Model 2020
first bike after 18 years off the road good grip sufficient power for me (for now) i bought it because my son is taking his A2 and i didn't want a 35kw bridled bike easy to handle, 130 without any problems largely good for our daily roads it's already equipped with the sprocket with an extra tooth i put the original pot back more muffled noise and less raucous it seems softer than with the /yoshimura/ lack of central keel box Rating : 4/5
essai Voge 500DS
French Christian Model 2020
25000kms on the odometer, no worries, nothing, nada. I'm extremely satisfied. The biggest fault is the unreliable fuel gauge, which I rely on for mileage. A few rust spots and vibrations between 90 and 110 in sixth gear. Otherwise RAS Rating : 4/5
Avis Voge 500ds

Bought in March 2024 last model of the year (promo 5090 euros) ,very satisfied with this bike .POSITIVE POINT: price equipment ,overall size, weight ,finish ,pleasure to ride ,comfort, sound of the exhaust , NEGATIVE POINT :conso 4.2 instead of 3.4 as indicated by the tests on the net. I confirm VERISUR's opinion. I covered 240km before the reserve (indicator light flashing red). I filled up at the station, bike on center stand for greater precision. I added 10 liters, 2 or 7 liters remaining in the tank...we're far from the 400km range and the port computer still displays 3.4 liters at all times. the engine tends to grind in the revs, on the other hand it gives a punchy engine (those who like..) fibration felt at 6000 rpm but other brands of motorcycles with larger displacement are not excluded....it's only a 500 cm3...I'm going to change a 15-tooth gearbox for a 16-tooth one in the near future...given certain opinions...you gain 700 rpm lower, flexibility and fuel consumption this time...Voila, I'm a 63-year-old motorcyclist with a 40-year motorcycle license...Bonne route a tous.... I don't know where you get the fuel consumption figure of 3.7l /100 km, but it's wrong! At best 4.2l / 100 km and with a 17-tooth sprocket as opposed to the original 15! This gives a maximum range of 300 km at a speed of 80 / 90 km/h !!!! Which is already pretty good compared to the others! Thanks for doing real tests! Rating : 4/5

As the owner of this bike, I can't say enough good things about it. In my opinion, it's an ideal little trail bike for young licence holders (or more): it's relatively light (205 kg tpf), easy to handle, comfortable, superbly equipped, ... the only thing I can't say yet is its long-term reliability. Mine's only got 7000 km so far, but it's running like clockwork! Rating : 5/5
