presentation of the Cruiser AMT 125 2025
Malaysian manufacturer Wmoto is aiming to make a name for itself in the small-displacement segment with the introduction of the Cruiser AMT 125, a custom bike distinguished by a rare feature in this market: a fully automatic transmission. Recently launched on the Malaysian market, this newcomer aims to make custom styling accessible to a wider audience, especially beginners and those seeking a relaxed ride without the constraint of a clutch.
The brand didn't start with a blank sheet of paper for this bike, quite the contrary. Originally a Zongshen Yomi 125, rebadged here as the Wmoto, the Cruiser AMT 125 has a look inspired by American exhibition customs, but in a reduced size. It features a relaxed riding position, a low seat perched just 680 mm off the ground, and an assertive "custom" design. This accessibility is one of its major selling points, allowing riders of all sizes to feel immediately at ease and confident.
An undersized heart
At the heart of the machine is an air-cooled 124 cm3 single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection. Power output is modest, with 7.8 hp (5.8 kW) at 8,000 rpm and torque of 8.8 Nm at 6,000 rpm. These figures don't promise blistering performance, but are suitable for urban use and leisurely cruising - in keeping with the bike's philosophy?
The main innovation lies in the transmission. Unlike traditional manual gearboxes, the Cruiser AMT 125 features a fully automatic transmission with a wet centrifugal clutch and chain final drive. This scooter-like configuration greatly simplifies driving: simply turn the handle to accelerate, without ever having to worry about shifting gears or managing the clutch.

Chassis-wise, the bike rests on a simple but tried-and-tested frame. Suspension is provided by a telescopic front fork and a surprising duo of shock absorbers under the seat. Braking is handled by front (220 mm) and rear (200 mm) discs, a simple set-up, but what more could you want for a machine of this size? The weight of 119 kg contributes to its maneuverability. The bike is fitted with 80/90-17 tires at the front and a (too?) wide 140/70-13 tire at the rear, reinforcing its custom look.
The equipment is correct, with full LED lighting (headlight, taillight and indicators), and a mixed analog/digital instrument panel. The fuel tank has a capacity of 6 liters.
Launched in Malaysia at a price of 5,988 ringgits (approx. 1,200 euros), the Wmoto Cruiser AMT 125 is positioned as an affordable and unique offering. Available in three colors (Green, Cream and Black), it comes with a two-year or 20,000 km warranty. It remains to be seen whether this automatic "mini-cruiser" concept will appeal beyond its chosen markets.
