presentation of the YZF-R1 1000 2006

...is a perpetual quest whose stylistic limit Yamaha has come dangerously close to. It's quite simple: the brand with the 3 tuning forks hasn't dared touch the R1 's styling, as it has reached such a high level of beauty and notoriety (at Ducati, we call it the 916 syndrome).

for the 2006 version, the only visible changes will be the color scheme, with a more pronounced gold color on the fork covers, the absence of inlaid patterns on the clutch housing, the forced-air ducts painted the same color as the fairing, and the black coloring of the exhaust protectors. And it looks so good, you'd think Yam would have been wrong to touch it.

the bulk of the work therefore focused on the beast's innards. On the engine side, 3 hp have been gained, and among the most notable modifications are the use of shorter intake valve guides to increase air intake flow. Also worthy of mention are the revised clutch nut and smoother air intake ducts.
The chassis remains the 5th-generation Deltabox, with a significantly modified structure. By adjusting thickness in strategic places, this die-cast aluminum frame is lighter, easier to handle and just as rigid as its predecessor.
The swingarm has been lengthened (+20 mm) and its support points have been changed. So have the motor's anchoring points. And that's not to mention the 1% shift in weight distribution to the front, the new lower fork crown, the on-board stopwatch, the modified timing chain tensioner... Oh yes, I just told you about that.

this new R1 now develops 175 static hp and has probably lost a few grams. A very nice bonus of this 2006 version is the appearance of 2 special series. On my left, 500 R1 SPs with Öhlins suspension will appear; on my right, a "racing yellow" livery celebrating Yamaha's 50th anniversary, with decoration inspired by machines from the 70s and 80s.

Un pur sang ultime !
French Model 2006
WOOH! What savagery when released from its bridles.
But above all, the precision.
This YAM is as sharp as a Japanese sword!
Rating : 5/5
after wiping the wrist of a 1999 r6, a 2002 gsxr 750, a 2004 r1 and a 2005 gsxr 1000, i've just bought myself a jewel called the r1 2007, a purely aggressive sport that's perfect for attacking. what can i say, bikers, treat yourself to it! sporty Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
been riding for 26 years, R1 since April, sensational bike, can't judge against gsxr but these bikes are not to be put in everyone's hands (requires undeniable experience of motorcycling before riding them), finally 9000 km since and still got my butt on it, only problem is mastering the power during this winter. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
Anyone who doesn't like this bike has never tried it. Unfortunately, it's even more illegal with the latest legislation (in full power) and it's also very stolen (mine was stolen)... As for the rest, with the gsxr it's the best sportbike on the market and not too expensive either, given its performance
Have a good ride and be careful.

for those who say that no changes have been made, it would be necessary for them to have tried both models to be as sure of themselves, because that's how you can tell them apart.happy owner of this masterpiece, for my part I'm completely won over.Appel de phare a tous. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
There are no changes !!!!! I find it a bit lame...other manufacturers may make less beautiful things, but at least they innovate !!! personally I prefer the suz !!!! Rating : 5/5
Here's my favorite, this bike is breathtaking, despite the fact that it hasn't changed much compared to the other, for me it has the true racing look and is still the finest of the other bikes compared to the GSXR 1000 and the ZX10R, I really can't wait to see what Yamaha has in store for us for the next Yamaha, but in my opinion it's going to hurt the eyes, hoping that the pencil strokes are as fine as ever. Bravo Yamaha and see you next time. Rating : 5/5
