presentation of the XJR 1300 2000

archetypal of the classic big roadster, with styling straight out of the 80s, the Yamaha XJR 1300 has slowly evolved over the years. It retains all its deliciously retro charm, elegant lines and superb big engine. Born with the FJ 1200, its air-cooled 4-cylinder is at once handsome, muscular and more than pleasant to use. Perhaps not as lively as the latest Kawasaki ZRX 1200 or Suzuki GSX 1400 engines, its qualities are still as exciting as ever. A monster of suppleness and torque, a heart as big as this, a huge hand that pushes you without throwing you, a muscle of emotions. The XJR has no nasty surprises when you're riding it cool or in a twist. Even the imposing weight is forgotten. A blend of velvety smoothness and efficiency that nonetheless imposes a certain restraint. Driven at full throttle, the bike is not as rigorous as its more recent rivals. In sporty rhythm, the suspension is outdated and the machine less vigilant. The big Yam is best enjoyed like a good old cognac, not a tequila shot. The SP version is fitted with Öhlins shock absorbers.

I bought the XJR 1300 SP in 1999. For me, it's the best bike I've ever owned. I wouldn't trade it in for another today. The truth is, I was happy to tour Spain and parts of France and Portugal. They were real bikes. The pity is that there are no replacements, and disgusting European politics keep us out of the cities. Hail to the classic XJR 1200-1300 Rating : 5/5

Bought in 2008 with 6500 kms now 85000 kms very good machine (the first bought new in 1999 and resold in 2002 with 25000 kms for health reasons).maintenance done by myself (given the lack of seriousness of the dealer DK).but becomes a little too heavy for me given my age (73 years). Otherwise nothing to say. Rating : 5/5

I've always dreamed of owning one one day, and now I have. I'm used to motorcycles that I could ride between 250 and 300 kms in one go, even if it was just for fun, but with this one it's barely 250 kms on a cushy ride with a 21-liter fuel tank, but that's what you do, it's a choice
Apart from its gluttony and a heavy suspension that makes it pump quite quickly, it's a good bike, no surprises, you need a bit of commitment to the attack, a good set of tires and every time I accelerate, I'm smiling (my arms pull less than my old 1200 bandit, but it's longer). I don't regret my purchase, just that it takes some getting used to a different, less sporty riding style than with my cbr and fz.

I love it!
Exactly what I was looking for.
A big, torquey engine.
Looks that make modern roadsters pale in comparison.
It's impossible to drive it belly-down, which isn't its vocation, but when you call on it, it's always there, and despite its Norman wardrobe weight, when maneuvering on the spot, it handles like a young bride in the laces.
To try it is to adopt it...

A 2015 restyling that will allow new motorcyclists to discover this marvel. Like me, they'll discover THE roadster with exceptional comfort, power (it pulls!) and finish. The duo is excellent, contrary to appearances, for those who like to hold on to the rider. The others will stay at home, or on the road.
Fuel consumption and range are fine with me. For heavy riders, there's the FJR.

Hi, I had 2 xjr 1300 models at the same time, one from 1999 and one from 2005. On the 1999 model, I had a problem similar to yours. In fact, the speedometer plays the role of identifying engine or electrical failure. If you have the manual, or if you find it on the net, it's indicated. This corresponds to a fault code.

In reply to Mitch, the first thing to check is the spark plugs. To find the cylinder concerned, run the engine for a few moments then carefully touch the exhaust outlets, the cold tube thus indicating the cylinder concerned, then check the offending spark plug as well as the connection and condition of the supply wire. How many km have they got? If not, check the carburettor Rating : 4/5
French nounours
hello Mitch
when you've isolated the cold cylinder, dismantle the spark plug. If it's wet, there's an ignition problem: check the spark arrester, spark plug and coil. If the spark plug is dry, check the carburetor.

.... I've been riding a 2010 model for 2 years, in town, in the country, in the mountains...
For me, it's the archetype of THE motorcycle (an engine with wheels) with a real face, in stark contrast to the "Transformers" trend of the moment.
Yamaha has succeeded in modernizing this bike, whose only sacrifice to standards was, in my opinion, the abandonment of the 2 side pots, in favor of a 4-in-1.
The only downside is the fuel consumption (not far from 10l in the urban cycle), which tends to drop significantly when you roll into the bends...
I love this bike, and the day Yamaha withdraws it from its catalog, I'll burn my 2-wheeler license and take up the Velib.
Bonne route.

i've had an xjr model 2002 since 2004, a torque that would break anyone's heart, as soon as you attack a curve, it's a blast, but be careful, it's not a bike, you have to take it with you, it's a man's bike!
personally, I've already blocked the conteur and it's all original except for the pot (4 in 1 ixil), the only hitch is the fuel consumption if you ride hard (160km with a full tank), it's hard to keep up with other bikes when you stop more often to refuel! but otherwise it's an excellent bike, it's my second bike, before I had a 600xjn, it's quite a change! if I change bike, I'll stay on an xjr.

Thirty years on the road and just as many motorcycles, but the 1300 XJR is truly the culmination of both: the old and the new at the same time! A delight to ride and a safe bike on roads and freeways, with a few minor shortcomings: the weight to handle when stationary, that unpleasant noise of the pot pipes heating and cooling and (for my bike???): the engine that heats up my shins a bit too much in summer! Otherwise, it's concrete, the nec for riding with a potato in reserve! Rating : 5/5

I spent a long time looking for a successor to the 1100XS, which I kept for 8 years. After going astray with Suzuki (GSX 1100G), I bought the 1200 FJR in '96. After a few concessions to family life that forced me to part with it, I'm back on the joys of a REAL motorcycle with the 2006 model. Whatever its faults or qualities, this machine is unique and won't be replaced for a long time. It's ze machine. Good riding to all. Rating : 5/5

having owned this superbike for three and a half years, it's a little greedy in terms of fuel consumption, but it's the only major complaint, whether you're riding quietly or in a handful of places around here. otherwise, it's very reliable and not at all expensive to maintain. Rating : 5/5

Hi all, I'm too young to love this little marvel because I'm only 17, but my father had it in the garage nearly 5 years ago!!! and it's the bike that attracted me the most, comfortable, a couple impréssionnan, a look indémodable ... in short, I fell in love with her right up until the moment she left our house without a sound ... bonne chance a ts et soyer prudent que ce n' est pas une moto donnée a tout le monde... well... I've just snapped up an XJR this morning to replace my fazer, so I hope I made the right choice... all to please the lady, as the duo should certainly be nicer... grand V to all of you... Rating : 5/5
what happiness!
what a wonderful line! what a punch!
a timeless bike, with which you can do everything (or almost) and those little rattles (air cooling) that remind you of the 70s!
the only problem is fuel consumption! you have to know what you want! enjoy the ride!

French amine92 Model 2006
I just bought this bike last weekend, I'm really enjoying it, it handles better than my ex varadero, I ride like a grandpa, I've caught myself speeding on the ring road several times (it's the giant slalom), what a bike!

just a question for the connoisseurs: why do I hear little clicks when I park my bike? (little ticks)

merci bonne route !!!
Rating : 5/5
Hello,

Ticking is valid on almost all motorcycles, and corresponds to parts that have heated up and expanded or retracted depending on the material.

It's not serious, and the more the engine heats up, the faster the ticking will occur.
So don't worry!

Hello,

I've owned this 'beast' for a month now, and I still have nothing to complain about... Aside from the great retro look, it's above all a healthy bike: great braking, great torque, great riding position... With just the two of you, you can even forget about your passenger..

In short, it's a concentrate of pleasure... bravo and thank you yam!!!!

bon route !!!

33 years of driving, and a lot of motorcycles, especially in recent years, I'm back to true values, a motorcycle with a timeless look, without all that plastic ..
A top-notch engine, to be ridden like a big old-fashioned roadster, then the look ..
As someone already said, I can't find a replacement for it, and that's saying a lot
We'll go a long way together
I'm gradually customizing it, without going down the classic tuning route: black and chrome, and it's all the more beautiful for it
Flaws...yeah, but who doesn't have them!

This machine is simply fantastic. I've been riding it for 2 years now, and I can't think of any complaints
i've been riding it for two years now and I can't think of a single fault with it. Its neo-retro look, its character, its breath, all original without any protection, I've ridden my bike and I'm proud of it. Frankly, today, if I had to buy another machine, it would be a 1300 XJR. That said, the competitors are also very simpatico, but I love this mother.

I just bought the beast 1 week ago (2002 model). A bit too short to criticize the fuel consumption or tire wear, but the engine is torquey. The riding position is pleasant, and the brakes are progressive and adapted to the machine. All in all, a super bike that's a pleasure to ride. Rating : 5/5

Simply endearing. I drive a 2003 model with 42,000 happy km. It has big flaws that become endearing. The suppleness of the frame in curves reminds you of the roadster side of the bike. The gearbox is still made in Yamaha, and it snaps and pops. But the engine is a killer, and the braking exceptional. In short, I haven't found a replacement... Rating : 5/5
French mazet Model 2006
With this bike, it's best not to attack on bumpy roads or have to brake suddenly (no bite and you have to pull on the lever like a man possessed). Make sure you have spare vertebrae if you can't change the rear shock absorber, earplugs so you don't hear the KLONK from the gearbox, and a 3rd hand to hold the saddle at the same time as you put the U in. In short, this bike is full of flaws, but it's terribly endearing. Rating : 5/5
French Gélo Model 2006
It's a beautiful machine and a dream engine The only 2 negative points are the protection, but it's a roadster, and more seriously, the flexibility of the fork, which can be surprising when cornering on a road that's not perfect !!!!!!! (it's frequent) It's not a machine to be put in every hand, because it's very powerful, for example: 150 km/h in 1st gear. 2-month summer riders please refrain. Rating : 5/5

I've been riding a '95 1200 XJR for 1 year now. There's nothing to say except that its devastating looks leave you wanting more, and the desire for a 1300 makes itself felt. It took me 7 machines before I didn't want to change. Bravo Yam' Rating : 5/5

I've had this bike for 3 years now, and I only ride it 6 months of the year, but I can say one thing: it's a remarkable bike, whether you're riding as a duo or as a couple. it's a bit heavy, but it's a pleasure to ride with torque. it's for sale, for someone who wants to ride in complete safety, thanks to braking that's the same as on the R1.
