presentation of the 700 TRACER GT 2019
The 700 Tracer GT is not so much a novelty as a large-scale recognition of its relevance. Initially, the little Tracer with the GT package was a design by Yamaha France during 2017. A little thought, a touch of daring, and the Tracer 700 GT earned its stripes as a model distributed throughout Europe.
With the original base, you're assured of one of the decade's most exhilarating motorcycles. The MT-07 has been THE star of the market for some time now. And rightly so.
And its 700 Tracer crossover version benefits from this aura. Once you've got some time on your hands, it's easy to pack up and head for the other side of Saturday. In fact, a GT edition is now available, more suited to taking you on a trip or on an impromptu whim.
Yamaha had already wisely used the idea of a roadster-trail-roadster equipped for Grand Tourism with the 900 TDM GT. The recipe is slightly different here, but the spirit is the same. First of all, the luggage. You can't go to the other end of the week without taking a minimum of bulky stuff. The 700 Tracer GT attaches the City suitcase kit to its hindquarters, allowing 2 x 20-liter cargo compartments. The doors are now painted body color, giving the bike a higher-quality look that's more pleasing to the eye and better integrated into the design. Then there's a larger bubble, for more kilometers without straining the chest and neck. Lastly, Yam has improved on-board comfort, with a seat of the same name, and one that's better able to protect the rider's back for long rides.
The 700 Tracer GT finds itself in direct confrontation with the 650 Versys Tourer. Powered by an invigorating 75-hp, 689 cm3 CP2 twin, the 700 Tracer GT is ideal for long rides and relaxing weekends in the countryside. Or simply improve everyday urban life. And it's always handy to stow your belongings safely in your suitcases.

Good news
- engine
- tires
- brakes sufficient for me
- weight
Negatives
- large bubble not effective even in high position (I'm less than 1m75 ...)
- pain in the buttocks despite the comfort saddle (the problem comes from the incline, you slide)
- handlebars too narrow
- handguards that don't protect you from anything, but give you a hard time. Retros-clignos-master cylinder-controls, everything is tied together by this crap
-catastrophic luggage. For the price, it's a real rip-off
On the whole, all the equipment is of poor quality or badly thought out. As a symbol, the equipment socket is a cigar lighter, whereas today we charge everything via USB. And the worst thing is that if you add a USB adapter, you can disconnect the cables with your hand-guards on sharp bends..
All in all, it's a great engine, with a chassis-suspension-brake package that can be greatly improved, but is still decent, and peripherals from m**** Rating : 3/5 Respond to James
