engine
The 2019-2021 YZ 85 features an 85cc liquid-cooled 2-stroke engine, an intake valve gearbox and the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS). The cylinder head, crankcases, crankshaft, connecting rod, transmission, exhaust system and CDI unit have all been redesigned, enabling this YZ engine to deliver more power at all engine speeds, with no loss of power at high revs.
improved chassis and optimized ergonomics
The 2019-2021 YZ 85's semi-double cradle steel frame, removable rear buckle and aluminum swingarm offer an agile feel, confident handling and greater ease of maintenance. The ergonomic configuration features a flat, comfortable seat, tapered aluminum handlebars adjustable to four positions and levers with adjustable reach to offer ease of movement to a wide range of young riders.
improved brake system
From 2019, a hose routing improves braking feel, while petal disc front brakes offer improved self-cleaning and cooling performance. The 220 mm front disc and 190 mm rear disc accentuate braking power without neglecting precision.
easily adjustable KYB coil-spring suspension
This YZ 85 features a race-proven, fully adjustable 36 mm KYB coil-sprung fork, with one-piece outer tubes and tapered shape for optimum rigidity. This translates into performance-amplifying handling, shock absorption and ease of adjustment. The fully adjustable KYB shock absorber of this pushrod suspension uses damping characteristics adapted to the new chassis.
