presentation of the XSR 900 Yard Built - XR9 Carbona par Bottpower - 2020
it ' s not been 10 years yet, but a whole lot of years since Yamaha launched its Yard Built program. Creations from all sides, from all horizons, between eccentricity and excitement. The aim is to show how a production motorcycle can be transformed by talented tuners.
the new XR9 Carbona by Bottpower is without doubt one of the most radical Yard Built ever seen. Compact, aggressive and lightweight, the XR9 Carbona is designed to offer performance and radicalism on a different level to the XSR 900 (or even the MT-09).
the story began in 2017 when the special Bottpower models won two of the categories at the iconic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado, USA. This iconic event needs no introduction... Well, a little: one of the oldest and most famous races in the world, contested over a demanding 19.99 km road course with 156 bends and 1,440 meters of positive vertical drop.
" The XR9 Carbona is inspired by our victories at Pikes Peak. With its high torque and compact chassis, we realized that the Yamaha XSR 900 was the ideal basis for creating a new special Yard Built model," commented Bottpower's David Sanchez. " Our main objective was to create a sleek, fast motorcycle asserting a modern, aggressive look, and we also wanted to be able to develop a "plug-and-play" kit that would allow any XSR 900 or CP3 platform owner to transform their bike into an XR9. "

while most of Yamaha's Yard Built bikes are special "one-off" models inviting owners to create their own bike, the Bottpower Carbona XR9 kit can be adapted directly to any existing XSR 900 or CP3 platform without the need for frame modification.
The XR9 Carbona kit includes a carbon fiber tank cover with air intakes, a carbon fiber seat and tail incorporating an alcantara seat, rear lights and indicators, a front number plate, integrated LED position lights, radiator covers with fins, high/low beams, a license plate bracket, a transmission cover and an engine cover.
the Spanish preparation workshop goes even further with its prototype. Equipped with a carbon Akrapovic exhaust system, carbon forks and the same material for handlebars, wheels and rear sprocket. The machine loses 29 kilos in the process.
