Rossi retires.........
After an exceptional career, which made him one of the greatest motorcycle champions of all time (if not THE greatest). Much of the glory he wrote was with Yamaha. To celebrate all the happiness and shared victories, the manufacturer built and offered him a GYTR-prepared R1 entirely dedicated to his master and bearing his nickname: the VR46.

The bike is loaded with racing parts and ready to take to the track. Its slick tires and lack of on-road fittings mean it can't go anywhere else. In fact, it's only between the vibrators that it'll give its all.

The decor of this R1 is just like the Doctor: extravagant and remarkable. Yam has spared no expense, giving it an all-carbon skin. The details of all the parts reveal that the bike is very close to a World Superbike machine. At least, that's the approach taken by the suspension, with factory Öhlins components for both the inverted fork and the shock absorber. The engine is factory-tuned, with a Marelli REX 140 ECU and plenty of extra horsepower: head gasket, radiator kit and complete Akrapovic line all come from the GYTR department.

The R1 VR46 is also more efficient, with forged aluminum Marchesini wheels, a Brembo braking system from WSBK, racing harnesses and controls, adjustable back plates, plenty of weight-saving carbon parts and a Chrome Lite racing panel. The latter greets the rider with a "Grazie Vale" when the dashboard is switched on.

This special gift will allow Vale to begin his retirement with some big sessions on the Misano circuit. With every lap, fans will be reminded of his 425 race starts, 115 victories and 9 world championship titles.

We valued this R1 GYTR VR46 at €70,000...... It's certainly worth more. But there's no such thing as the price of a present!
