presentation of the Tracer 9 GT+ 2023

Old-timers will remember the kitschy 1980s advertisement for Balhsen pastries, with the famous "Mr. Plus" elbowing a dollop of hazelnut into his cookies. For 2023, with its Tracer 9 GT, Yamaha has done the same as the biscuit-maker, by adding a big dollop of technology to its GT + model!

thus, the new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, whose qualities are detailed by us on the following link(https://preprod.motoplanete.us/yamaha/9634/Tracer-9-GT-2023/contact.html), is embellished with the best Yamaha has to offer in terms of technology to merit a "+", making it the most techno-savvy machine from the manufacturer with three tuning forks. With the declared aim of "taking the road sports experience into a new era". Nothing less...

first of all, it is equipped with an integrated millimeter-wave radar, weighing 200g and placed under a protective cover at the front of the bike. This constantly measures the distance between the motorcycle and the vehicle in front. This intelligent radar enables the new ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) system to automatically - and therefore without rider intervention - control cruising speed, deceleration and acceleration, in order to adapt to traffic conditions and maintain minimum safety distances. The latter can be adjusted, as ACC is parameterizable and offers four following distance options, so that every driver can enjoy a system that perfectly matches his or her driving preferences.

the new 7-inch TFT display shows a green icon when ACC is active, with the selected following distance indicated by a series of white bars.
ACC operates between 30 and 160 km/h, and also warns the driver if the vehicle in front is too close. Cruising speed can be adjusted in increments of 1 or 10 km/h.

Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ aCC is deactivated when braking, turning the throttle forward or touching the clutch. On the other hand, the new shifter allows you to upshift or downshift without deactivating ACC, to accompany deceleration or throttle response.

this new ACC system is also designed to operate in curves, preventing speed increases when entering a bend, while taking care to identify if a vehicle is not ahead of you in the bend. It also accompanies smooth overtaking by gradually accelerating when it detects an overtaking maneuver with the turn signal on.

the Tracer 9 GT features KYB's excellent KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System) adaptive suspension system, which allows this intelligent ACC to intervene on engine braking and the braking system when necessary, while preserving the bike's damping and stability.

the braking system also benefits from a "unified" system called UBS (Unified Brake System), linked to the radar. This active braking system uses information gathered by the millimeter-wave radar and the 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) to avert any danger of collision. It optimally distributes braking forces between the front and rear axles, while avoiding the risk of the wheels spinning out of control when cornering.

Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ 2023 of course, the new 7-inch TFT display features the very latest in USB, Bluetooth and WI-FI connectivity, and can display all the data and information you need, including navigation, of course. A Carmin navigator can be integrated into the system, subject to subscription. The four riding modes (Sport, Street, Rain or Custom) are easily displayed and set on this interface, via new backlit controls. The Tracer 9 GT+ also features a leatherette comfort seat with embossing and stitching, and a USB socket.

fans of assisted driving will thank Yamaha for hiring the motorcycling offspring of Balhsen's famous Mr. Plus in its R&D department... As for those who prefer to retain more control over their riding, they can still revel in the dynamic qualities of the Tracer 9 GT in its standard version. After all, isn't the real "plus" that you still have a choice?

Maintenance

2/26/25
Manufacturer recall in the following countries: France.

Yamaha France is recalling its motorcycles equipped with the CP3 engine (2021-2025) due to a fault in the ECU settings. This problem causes the TPS sensor to malfunction, resulting in premature wear and the accumulation of abrasion particles. This can lead to unstable idling, engine stalling and the appearance of error code P2135. The solution: "Reprogram the ECU and replace the TPS sensor," says Iwata.

French Model 2023
I ride an MT09 2021 naked on a daily basis, and I tried out the GT+ for just over 100 kilometers, mainly on winding country roads and a little in town. I was impressed by the quality of the suspension, both in terms of roadholding and comfort. The engine is the same as on my bike, a success in every respect. Protection is excellent, and at 1.78m I was perfectly protected with the bubble in either the high or low position, whatever the speed. My passenger was only well protected in the high position. The dashboard of this GT+ is royal, very legible and everything is there. I only have two complaints, the price (2000€ more than the GT, that's a lot) and the sensations, which are less than on the roadster version (probably due to the total absence of wind, the protection being perfect). Rating : 4/5
