presentation of the 700 Ténéré Explore Edition 2023
The 700 Ténéré revived Yamaha's desire to explore. The 1200 Super Ténéré had never really fulfilled its mission, and the XTZ 660 's successor was long overdue.
Assured of its position in the market, the trail bike set out to diversify with more distinctive variants. The result is the Ténéré "Explore", more accessible and with more distant horizons.
what have they done? A beefier, more powerful SUV version with suitcases? No, they didn't. For something bigger and with greater autonomy, there's the World Raid.
As far as the Explore is concerned, it's all a question of adaptability, with a touch-up of the suspension and a few well-chosen accessories.
a trail bike is high. Especially when it's designed to go truly off-road. Except that this version of the 700 T is designed to be lower. Kayaba (KYB) travel has been reduced by 20 mm, bringing inverted fork travel to 190 mm and amorto travel to 180 mm. As a result, we lose ground clearance, but also - and this is where the right leg gets a bit of a smile back - seat height. It drops to 860 mm, 15 mm less than the normal Ténéré.
uh..... 15 mm less, while the lines are lowered by 20 mm?!? What's the gag?
Hhhmmm, maybe the 5 mil' in question have been eaten up by the increased spring constants. Yam has reworked them to ensure handling and safety when the mule is loaded to the hilt.
In short, with the Ténéré Explore, you don't have to climb so high, and it's a little easier to put your feet on the ground when stationary.
it's also designed to allow the crew to ride in greater comfort. To achieve this, the imperative is to improve protection. Hence the 50% larger windshield. Alas, no heated grips, comfort saddle or IGN map. Instead, you'll find an Up&Down shifter with specific settings for the Ténéré.
And when you're exploring, you've got to pack. This Ténéré is fitted with pannier holders on its sides. But only the brackets, not the panniers. This avoids inflating the price and leaves the customer free to choose between rigid and flexible models.

this Yamaha Ténéré 700 Explore Edition costs 800 euros more than the standard model. There's also an Extreme version, better suited to unzooming difficulties. With upgraded suspension, rally seat, new mudguards, larger footrests, etc. These two versions will only be available in France, Italy and Germany.
