presentation of the MX 2013
nervous. Precise in turns. Stable on jumps. Turn up the throttle and bite the track. Quiet and powerful, the Zero MX opens up new horizons in the world of motorcycling
The Zero MX turns heads as fast as it laps. Based on the 2011 World Indoor Champion electric motorcycle, the new Zero MX has taken a huge leap forward in terms of power and responsiveness. Carefully prepared by the Zero engineering team, the new Zero MX demands your attention. Racing suspensions and the best power-to-weight ratio in the industry give this dirt bike unrivalled responsiveness. Alloy wheels swallow bumps smoothly to keep you on track. Performance and silence open up a whole new world of trails.
the best way to cut your time
now "full size" and equipped with the new Z-Force engine, the 2013 Zero MX is 125% more powerful and develops 51% more torque. With 92 Nm of torque and up to 40 kW (54 HP), the Zero MX's acceleration is blistering but smooth, enabling riders to make higher jumps and take corners faster. When accelerating, riders can now take advantage of the braking energy regeneration system to adjust speed while extending range. An additional detail that adds a little extra to the competition is the ability to adjust the Zero MX's technical characteristics via Bluetooth and a compatible mobile device. To improve handling, the Zero MX is equipped with a wider rear shock absorber with a lower compression ratio, and a larger front fork to increase torsional rigidity.
equipped with the first fully-integrated modular propulsion system, the Zero MX is available in two versions: ZF2.8 (one module) and ZF5.7 (two modules). The lockable modules can be added or removed separately, regardless of charge level, in less than a minute. Recharge times of up to 95% can be halved with an optional fast-charging system, or reduced to just one hour with the CHAdeMO accessory (CHAdeMO recharging requires a charging station).) Maximizing driving pleasure, the sealed Z-Force engine eliminates the need for powertrain maintenance, and drives the rear wheel with a more robust 520 chain.
the first fully integrated modular propulsion system
the Zero MX features the first fully integrated modular propulsion system. With slots for two batteries, you can use either one or both of the Zero MX's battery slots. The batteries are recharged by an independent charger, reducing weight.
The Zero MX is available with one (ZF2.8) or two (ZF5.7) battery modules. Compatible with the Zero FX and Zero XU, these modules are interchangeable between the three bikes.
92 Nm torque, max. 54 HP... And incredibly efficient
zero Motorcycles has designed the Z-Force engine down to the last detail, making it compact, efficient and powerful. Accelerating to its top speed of 153 km/h will take your breath away. Fully air-cooled, the engine is designed to give you a fantastic driving experience with no maintenance required. When you slow down, the motor generates energy which is reused in the battery to extend the range.
recharge anywhere - Recharge in any standard outlet
the Zero MX uses a stand-alone charger that can be plugged into any standard outlet. No additional equipment is required for standard charging, and the system allows you to recharge the batteries on the bike or once they've been removed. The Zero MX is compatible with CHAdeMO and quick charge systems.
chassis and bodywork - Lightweight, aircraft-grade aluminum
the motocross frame is the heart of the Zero MX. It has been developed by Zero down to the last detail and handcrafted using aircraft-grade aluminum. The resulting light weight and strength offer greater responsiveness. When cornering and starting off, this translates into greater acceleration. Each frame is shot-blasted and anodized for longer life.
comfortable suspension and easy handling
the Zero MX is equipped with a suspension system that absorbs irregularities in the terrain. Benefiting from its low weight, this bike is equipped with a robust, light and responsive inverted front fork. Users can quickly adjust the suspension using the externally mounted compression and rebound adjuster. at the rear, a rigid "diamond-type" swingarm ensures roadholding using an adjustable shock absorber.
clutch and chain - Durability and new parts availability
for greater off-road traction and acceleration, Zero has equipped the Zero MX with a stronger 520 steel chain and a heavy-duty direct drive train.
zero Motorcycles applications
zero Motorcycles' new app gives you access to detailed information about your motorcycle: charging time, average power in watts per kilometer, complete charging cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set personalized parameters for top speed, maximum torque and maximum energy regeneration under braking. While you're riding, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard, providing you with detailed motorcycle information in real time. Thanks to Bluetooth, the application works on iPhone and Android.
figures
the ZERO MX ZF2.8 costs 9,495 euros, weighs 101 kilos, and offers 20 to 60 minutes of autonomy on a cross-country track.
