presentation of the RSV4R 1000 2010
when Aprilia introduced the RSV4, it knew it was launching a super machine. But riders, enthusiasts and even ordinary motorcyclists didn't yet realize the impact it would have. The thrill was already there at the mere mention of the V4. The first to take to the track was the Factory version. And then came the fantasy. On the one hand, because the technical arguments, the top-level performance and the Superbike aura honored Noale's new sportsbike without artifice, and on the other, because the entry ticket instantly calmed the nerves. At 20,000 euros for a tracker, you'd be tempted to rip off an arm or an eye.
fortunately, Aprilia always offers 2 versions of the RSV. For once, it was the Factory that went on sale first. And for 2010 (or even earlier), here's the standard version, known as the R. A letter that changes everything? Not necessarily. It's just a symbol that removes some of the machine's noble features to make it more affordable. The RSV4 R comes in at under 15,000 roros, a saving of over €5,000. That's the introductory price, but even after that, the price tag should prove pretty damn attractive, given the machine's efficiency and technical prowess.
so, what's changing to get to this less toxic price!?!! Well, we start with the suspension. The Öhlins elements have been replaced by a Showa inverted fork and a Sachs shock absorber. The rider will lose some feeling and precision... provided you're already a very good pistard. The Factory's carbon fairing elements are replaced by conventional ABS parts. This alone accounts for most of the difference in price and explains the machine's weight gain. 5 kgs separate the R from the Factory. Let's finish pulling teeth: the wheels are cast aluminium instead of forged, the steering damper is no longer Öhlins but Sachs, the intake system is no longer variable, the steering column eccentric has disappeared, the front brake discs are made of steel instead of stainless steel, and it is no longer possible to modify the swingarm mounting height or the position of the engine in the chassis.

The RSV4 R has arrived at just the right time to wash out the competition, already well battered by the Factory. With a price tag on a par with the Japanese 1000, the Italian's V4 power and efficiency will make the hypersports of the rising sun sweat.
