presentation of the SMV 750 DORSODURO Factory 2010
lighter, more efficient, more fun... The first two arguments are those of all Aprilia Factory versions(RSV-R 1000, Tuono R, RSV4); a notable optimization to raise the machine's level of efficiency a notch. The third is for the machine's wild side.
In its turn, the spirited Dorsoduro supermotard comes in a Factory version. It's impossible not to suspect that this version is hot-blooded: the red frame, barely concealed beneath the black dress, betrays an ebullient temperament. To earn the Factory label, an Aprilia must meet certain criteria. This starts with the use of carbon fiber parts. On the SVM 750, it's the front mudguard, the wide side scoops and most of the fuel tank cladding that benefit from the nobility of this material.
secondly, the suspension. Factory models are normally fitted with Öhlins elements. But this is not the case on the Dorsoduro. A minor disappointment, as the prestigious name would lead us to believe. That's not to say that forks and shock absorbers remain standard. They are fully adjustable for preload, compression and rebound. The base version doesn't get as much attention to fine-tuning its handling.
with this toy, there's now plenty of room for serious nerdiness. The 92hp twin is equipped with a triple-mapping control unit and Ride by Wire injection. New petal brake discs are bitten by Brembo 4-piston radial calipers. Chassis-wise, Aprilia's technology suffers no criticism whatsoever, with the exception of some damping issues, which this Factory version should rectify. Expect to pay around 800 euros more for this Dorsoduro Factory, and a further 600 euros if you want ABS (due in September).
