The face of Benelli has changed since the dawn of the 21st century. At the time of its rebirth, the Italian manufacturer offered nothing less than a sultry 900 Tornado as its entry-level model. Today, the youngest model in the range is a 2.5-litre roadster aimed at young bikers. Back to basics for a brand that began its career with simple, affordable, small-displacement bikes? There's something for everyone...
if you want to discover the world of Benelli, it starts now with this BN 251. A mischievous little roadster, it reminds us sometimes of a small Duke, sometimes of a mini Kawa. These references are far from insignificant. Its 41 mm upside-down fork immediately commands respect, while the edges of the fuel tank and the engine cowling give the bike an edgy look. It's almost as if the BN 251 wanted to play it rough. But adrenaline junkies beware: the machine will have fun in town, but there's no question of going for the speed of sound. The sedan will make do with around twenty horsepower (24.5 at 9,000 rpm) and just over 2 mkg of torque. The tubular steel frame is supported by the engine for maximum rigidity. Apart from the oversized front end (inverted fork, 4-piston brake caliper), the rest of the chassis is in line with what you'd expect from a machine in this segment: 17-inch rims, 280 mm brake disc at the front and 240 mm at the rear, 143 kilos in the hips and 17 liters in the gut. To establish its reputation, the Benelli BN 251 is advertised at a very competitive price.

I already have a motorcycle that I love. It has an undeniably pleasant engine (2015 F6C GL1800).
However, it's still tricky to ride in the rain (huge engine torque with no traction control) and still imposing in size for the Paris region.

This Benelli bn251 already has an undeniable financial appeal for young A2 license holders: a small new bike for less than 3500â'¬.
For those looking for a second bike to ride in the Paris region (in traffic jams), it's euro 4 (eco sticker No. 1) and weighs just 145kg dry with ABS (though with a relatively good size).
Its fuel consumption is more than reasonable (less than 4L/100km) and it's comfortable to drive.
Its 25hp are sufficiently strong, even on fast lanes at 110 km/h. Although it doesn't stretch out its arms, it has no difficulty in extracting itself from Parisian urban traffic, with a pleasant mono sound.
Its only fault, as far as I'm concerned, is its front disc (on emergency braking), where you have to pull the brake lever very hard...
Fortunately, the ABS takes care of this, and it's also possible to fit the second disc/caliper of its larger sister, the bn 302, to correct this fault once and for all.
In terms of competition, there's really only Honda with the crf250 (25hp and 143kg but at 4990â'¬), Suzuki with the gsx250r / dl250 Vstrom (25hp and 180kg at 5300â'¬ and 5600â'¬ respectively) and Mash with the 250cc 18-20hp models for the same price 3390â'¬ and 3490â'¬.
Of course, Benelli's brand image still needs to be (re)made, and this model doesn't give in to the current neo-retro fashion, but it does have the merit of existing in today's motorcycle market, which advocates ultimate performance and makes it increasingly difficult for us to keep all our points...
From my point of view, if the Benelli bn251A is already a good "utility" bike, it's an interesting alternative approach to 2-wheeling.

Apart from its maneuverability and lightness, the front brake lacks bite, but it brakes well with a full hand, while the rear brakes lock up quickly...
Another advantage of this bike is that you almost never see one on the road, so it's ideal for people who don't want to have the same bike as everyone else! Rating : 4/5 Respond to Duamirg
