presentation of the Z 300 2015
Popular as it is, the Z family of the 21st century has always consisted of just two members: a big, ballsy roadster for the mercenaries, and a medium-displacement model for the heart of the market. Success has always been there, but has anyone thought of those who want the bottle without the intoxication?
With the Z 300, this is now possible. With a strong identity based on the Z 800, the smallest of the Z models is making a big impact. It's got style! Along with the KTM 390 Duke, this is one of the most attractive small roadsters in its class.
would you believe it if we told you that it was based on a Ninja 300 R? It seems to take nothing from its sporty cousin, so different are the silhouettes. And yet, the Z 300 features the same technical equipment. Tubular steel frame, 37 mm fork, wheels, engine and exhaust are identical. A good designer and new handlebars can change the whole philosophy of a bike.
The Z 300 uses the Ninja's parallel-twin engine, unchanged. With its 296 cm3, dual butterfly injection, 8 valves and double ACT, the boiler spits out 39 hp at 11,000 rpm, and 2.8 mkg a little lower. That's a lot of fun, but it doesn't shake your cortex. The Z 300 may look good, but it's still an entry-level bike.

From the Ninja, the Z 300 has also taken the dashboard, with a few fun touches to set it apart: the white background of the rev counter, the Z logo, and the orange illumination of the digital window. They also share the same braking system, with a petal disc per wheel. 290 mm at the front, 220 mm at the rear, and double-piston calipers for all. ABS is available as an option, for an extra 2 kilos and 400 euros.
Speaking of kilos, the Z 300 is 4 units lighter than the Ninja. Not enough to make it a featherweight: 168 kilos on the scales is no mean feat. The designated competitor, Miss Duke, carries 20 less.
being the smallest of the Zs can be a serious asset in urban environments. The same devastating looks as the big 800 brother, acceptable power that's perfect for young A2s, and a price tag under the 5-plate mark. For the more sporty, the limited-slip clutch calms rear-wheel slippage. For everyday use, we'll praise the supple suspension, designed for comfort in town.

Today there's even more choice, and if I had it to do over again, I think I'd take the Yamaha mt-03 320... Better equipped as standard (gear indicator, maintenance indicator, engine temperature...) and, above all, longer service intervals (valve clearance at 40,000, compared with 12,000 on the Kawa), it's all part of the budget! Rating : 4/5 Respond to vic987
i reached 160 at 11,000 rpm knowing that the red zone is at 13,000 ... count on 180 for vmax Rating : 5/5 Respond to nico
You're such a joker!
This bike is simply pure joy, good enough to get used to while waiting for the end of the A2 license because it holds its own against bigger bikes thanks to its low weight/power ratio.
I'd recommend it to anyone new to motorcycling Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
nevertheless know that I had in my youth a 4OO S3 and a H2
to comfort you, I'm a kawasakist at heart and I'm having a lot of fun with an ER6 at 60; for your information, I neglected to mention the RD LC 350, but that would have been unfair, since 50 cm3 more would have meant a bigger fine Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
more seriously, a "Jawa pas vite" has never been exemplary at low speeds, its only asset being an insurance premium in the event of theft.... Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
